NO Getaway
We stayed in Miss Kitty's room which was great with the outside sitting area. We loved the pool and the quietness of the area. We were close enough to the French Quarters to walk but far enough for quietness. The staff was very friendly. The only complaint I would have is that there was glassware in the room to be used for espressos. The glassware was not replaced or cleaned after its use. The dirty glassware remained in the room the entire 5 days.

Highly Recommended
This boutique hotel was perfect for our stay in New Orleans. It is located on the edge of the French Quarter and was very convenient to walk to many restaurants, bars, shops in the French Quarter and on Bourbon St. The staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions. The wine happy hour can be enjoyed around the pool. The continental breakfast is also good. Everything was clean. I definitely would stay there again.

Short walk from hotel
We bought a ticket for the hop on hop off bus, so we could have a tour of the city and get off the bus at the stops which we were more interested in.

Great Stay In The Big Easy
The hotel was just lovely and the staff was awesome. Every evening there was a wine and cheese get-together for guests that we really enjoyed. It gave us an opportunity to meet and greet other guests. The continental breakfast every morning was also very nice. You could get your coffee and pastry, cereal or yogurt and go sit by the pool. Which, by the way, was very well maintained and always clean and used by a number of guests. We spent a lot of time exploring the French Quarter and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We like to walk so that wasn't a problem for us. For others, it could be seen as a hike. The room was lovely and well maintained. Overall, we had a great stay at the Melrose Mansion and would stay there again.

Long walk from hotel
The daily buffet at The Court Of The Two Sisters restaurant was wonderful. Over 80 different food offerings including an omlet, pancake and waffle station. The buffet is from 9am - 3pm and reservations are recommended. Well worth the visit.

Could be better
Location was fine for us. The hotel needs to be made a bit more attractive to the eye. The room was ok at best. Badly in need of an interior decorator. Pool was cloudy the entire time we were there Staff was very nice and professional.

Great Hotel, Convenient Location
Just on the boarder of the French Quarter and Marigny, the Melrose Mansion is a treat. The rooms are clean, comfortable and luxurious; the staff very welcoming. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting that this is the place to stay.

Ideal "home away from home" for French Quarter visit
Our overall experience was very favorable. The staff was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed being located at this border of the French Quarter. It was quite at the right time and close to the live music scene on Frenchman Street. Our reduced overall enthusiasm was influenced by (a) phone location in the room and (b) not informed about the novel mechanism used to effect water drainage from the tub. I would recommend MM to others.

Nice people, great location
All of the hotel staff were extremely nice, and the hotel itself is beautiful. It looks a lot like a bed and breakfast, but is run as a hotel. So the rooms and layout are like an old mansion, but the front desk is staffed 24/7. We got in early in the morning, and had expected to have to wait, but they checked us right in and upgraded the room since the room we booked was not available. That was really nice, and is almost unique in my travel experience. The location is just outside the noisy part of the French Quarter, so it is pretty quiet, but a reasonable walk to anything you might want to do there. The front desk staff were all helpful in telling us good places to go. Bourbon street is getting pretty raw, but there are lots of art galleries and great restaurants nearby. The only slight downside is that the pool is a little smaller than it looks in the photo, but still very nice, and the shower was pretty leaky (but the bathrooms were beautifully renovated). The wireless internet was also surprisingly fast, and free. I can see some complaints if you are expecting a typical big hotel, since this really is in an old mansion. But if you are the bed and breakfast type, then I think you will really like this. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Awesome Experience!
Room that I ordered was booked out, so we were upgraded for free. Amazing staff meets you at the door more of a bed and breakfast feel than hotel. The room was perfect, had that amazing French quarter feel. Location could not have been better, walking distance of the quarter and catty-corner to the infamous Port O Call! will definitely be back in the summer when I can make use of the super low key pol and courtyard.
