Upon arriving at the Melrose Mansion, you will experience true southern hospitality from the always friendly staff, available to assist with luggage and ensure that your stay with the hotel is unforgettable. A light continental breakfast can be enjoyed each morning in the breakfast room which features a 75" flat screen television. Wine and cheese are also served each night in the parlor. The newly renovated luxury mansion sits on historic Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans just one block from the world famous French Quarter!
The Melrose Mansion features 14 beautifully furnished suites with antiques and all modern amenities including 300 thread-count linens with down comforters, LCD flat screen television, IPod docking station, FACE toiletries, all-marble bathrooms with standing shower or Jacuzzi tub, ebony stained original hardwood floors, original artwork, and Wi-Fi. Hotel also has one of the largest swimming pools in the French Quarter complete with fountains which sits perfectly in the courtyard area of the mansion surrounded by lush trees and landscape.
The Melrose is the perfect choice in one of the most historic areas of New Orleans for weddings and bridal parties alike. New to the Melrose Mansion, Salon 937 can provide all of your styling services, hair coloring, and haircuts for your entire bridal party on the big day! The Melrose Mansion has a mandatory Amenity Package of $12.95 per night which includes continental breakfast each morning of your stay, welcome amenities upon arrival, wine and cheese served nightly, unlimited local and long distance phone calls, high speed wireless internet, usage of the in-room safe with up to $20,000 safe insurance, and 24hr fitness center access.
A security deposit of $150 will be taken upon check-in, per room, in case of damages and/or incidentals.

Location was fine for us. The hotel needs to be made a bit more attractive to the eye. The room was ok at best. Badly in need of an interior decorator. Pool was cloudy the entire time we were there Staff was very nice and professional.

Ideal "home away from home" for French Quarter visit
Our overall experience was very favorable.The staff was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed being located at this border of the French Quarter. It was quite at the right time and close to the live music scene on Frenchman Street. Our reduced overall enthusiasm was influenced by (a) phone location in the room and (b) not informed about the novel mechanism used to effect water drainage from the tub. I would recommend MM to others.

Nice people, great location
All of the hotel staff were extremely nice, and the hotel itself is beautiful. It looks a lot like a bed and breakfast, but is run as a hotel. So the rooms and layout are like an old mansion, but the front desk is staffed 24/7. We got in early in the morning, and had expected to have to wait, but they checked us right in and upgraded the room since the room we booked was not available. That was really nice, and is almost unique in my travel experience. The location is just outside the noisy part of the French Quarter, so it is pretty quiet, but a reasonable walk to anything you might want to do there. The front desk staff were all helpful in telling us good places to go. Bourbon street is getting pretty raw, but there are lots of art galleries and great restaurants nearby. The only slight downside is that the pool is a little smaller than it looks in the photo, but still very nice, and the shower was pretty leaky (but the bathrooms were beautifully renovated). The wireless internet was also surprisingly fast, and free. I can see some complaints if you are expecting a typical big hotel, since this really is in an old mansion. But if you are the bed and breakfast type, then I think you will really like this. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Awesome Experience!
Room that I ordered was booked out, so we were upgraded for free. Amazing staff meets you at the door more of a bed and breakfast feel than hotel. The room was perfect, had that amazing French quarter feel. Location could not have been better, walking distance of the quarter and catty-corner to the infamous Port O Call! will definitely be back in the summer when I can make use of the super low key pol and courtyard.

Weekend Getaway to New Orleans
We decided to take a weekend getaway to New Orleans for a mini vacation, and we wanted to stay close to the French Quarter but not right in the heart of the action. The location of the Melrose Mansion is perfect. It is about 6 blocks away from the heart of Bourbon Street...and the walk was nice and refreshing...not scary or long at all. the accomodoations were beautiful. The home was originally built in the 1800s and it is breathtaking and simply gorgeous. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgable and informative - ask for Melanie or Jason. :) The coninental breakfast left a LOT to be desired, and there is NO FREE PARKING. Parking is an additional $26.95 per day to park on their facilities, and there is also an $12.95 per day convenience fee. So the lacking "FREE" continental breakfast is actually $12.95 per day, more or less. However, they do serve a wine and cheese reception at 6:00 every eveining, which was really nice!

great location on fringe of french quarter
room was great and clean, continental breakfast bland and unimaginative, staff responsive but remote, evening wine okay, but cheese left alot to be desired, last night's sleep interrupted by alot of noisy inebriated guests in the wee hours.

Very nice, quiet, and charming
We really enjoyed our stay at the Melrose Mansion. It is a very charming and quiet place to stay. Yet, it is within a couple of blocks walking distance from all of the French Quarter night life. Loved it and plan to stay agan!

The only down side was having to use city parking lot which was 0.9 mile from hotel as hotel did not offer parking.
