“Belle of New Orleans” offers genteel luxury fit for the fab traveler

The best of New Orleans is only minutes away from this regal-looking hotel.  Le Pavillon was built in 1907 and restored to its original glory in the 1970s. It evokes the grand style of Napoleonic France. Top-hatted doormen welcome guests to a lobby filled with antiques and lit by 11 crystal and bronze chandeliers. An 1880s hand-carved bar, salvaged from one of Al Capone's Chicago haunts, is right at home in the Big Easy. This hotel is adjacent to the French Quarter and eight blocks from the Morial Convention Center. Bourbon Street and the Superdome are nearby.

Highlights
  • Member of the National Register of Historic Places
  • PB&J served with cold milk and hot chocolate nightly at 10 p.m.

Glass-enclosed showers with oversized showerheads are an added perk.

Wedding Weekend

We were warmly greeted by the hotel staff at the door, who came and parked our car for us. The hotel is old and historic with a beautiful lobby. Our room was a good size with high ceilings and comfortable beds. Not the newest decor, but comfortable. They had a lovely pool and small fitness center on the top floor. It overlooked downtown. For our very first time in New Orleans, this location was perfect. We traveled with our 10 month old daughter so being outside the french quarter but within a few blocks of everything was perfect for us. Parking is a bit expensive, but we were able to find street parking most nights. The PB&J late night complimentary snack was great. We wil definitely come back.

Le Pavillon

Le Pavillon is conveniently located in New Orleans; close to the French Quarter and the Super Dome. The hotel is overpriced since the rooms are pretty standard as far as hotels go. The staff was friendly but they expected tips for every service. I was not informed that they would put a $75 charge on my credit card for incidentials; and then would credit me after 72 hours. I think this should be communicated upon check in.

Great weekend!

Clean, courteous and warm NOLA personalities made this hotel pretty nice! Not to mention the slight spooky look hallways with turn of the century decor gave it the New Orleans charm.

New Orleans vacation

The hotel staff was excellent. We give top marks for superior customer service. Only problems were the toilet tended to run and the iron in the room did not work but other than that everything was wonderful. The staff was great about suggesting local activities and places to see. We would love to stay here again.

Midweek Getaway

We had an extremely good experience at Le Pavillon. The staff could not have been friendlier or more courteous. They were helpful with directions and suggestions. The rooms, although small, are beautifully appointed and very clean.

Wasn't Too Thrilled

Our water wasn't hot, the TV remote didn't work (they did replace it, however,) there was no complimentary coffee, except for mornings ($2.00 for a small cup after that,) $35 per night to park the car, plus nearly $5 tax on top of that, and the refrigerator in the room was jammed full of items they wanted to sell at escalated prices. We moved some of them in order to put a couple of our own things in there, and our bill showed that we were charged for them. Got that straightened out, but it was aggravation.

General

Enjoyed our stay, however not our kind of decor - a bit over the top. We booked a standard king - very small room. Could not leave the aircon at night - too noisy. Basically got what we paid for. Would probably try another hotel, should we return to NOLA.

First time in New Orleans

From the moment the cab pulled up to the La Pavillion, I knew I had made the right choice in hotel. The old world charm and staff friendliness were second to none. My friends and I were thoroughly satisfied with the hotel and spent a little time in the bar as well. The only problem we had was a running toilet, but the staff fixed the issue right away. Thanks to the La Pavillion staff and I will definitely be back.
