4 Star price - 2 Star Experience

My husband surprised me with a trip to New Orleans for my 40th birthday. He did ample research on the hotel and says we spent an arm and a leg on the hotel, but we were very disappointed with our stay. We happened to be in town at the same time as every Ohio State University and University of Alabama fan so the city itself was extremely crowded- this was not Le Meridien's fault and we enjoyed the crowds but we did not enjoy the paper thin walls in the rooms so that we had to stay up all night with our next door neighbors as they partied the nights (plural) away. Even a normal conversation next door was crystal clear in our room. This is not reflective of a 4 star price tag. We loved the look of the hotel and the cleanliness (which is VERY important to me) was great, but our other next door neighbors food should not sit outside their/our room for 12+ hours before being picked up by the hotel staff. We were not advised of any amenities upon check in and we were not warned of 3-$100 "authorizations" that would be expected to our credit card. Additionally, when we were told of the $39/night valet fee, we were not advised of the $4.68/night Parking Tax. With that said, the hotel is in a perfect location and within walking distance of all that New Orleans has to offer-that is a PLUS. Shame on us for not making New Year's Eve Dinner Reservations in advance and unfortunately, we were STUCK eating at LMNO, Le Meridien's hotel restaurant. Do not waste any money for this food or experience. I would've been happier at Subway. I waited so long on a Bloody Mary that I finally cancelled the order. The kitchen messed up our order twice (my sauce on my husband's salmon and his side on my plate then my sauce on the side of his plate and his sauce drizzled on my redfish) and the food was "ok" at best. Again, a 4 star price for a 2 star experience-at least they're consistent, right? All in all, our trip was great, but the next time we go to New Orleans, we will stay at a 4 star hotel that is worth the 4 star price.

Good location, needs more attention to detail

The 'W' brand didn't live up to expectations at this location. Front desk staff wasn't overly friendly and numerous times seemed annoyed at helping guests. Concierge was missing two nights during peak dinner reservation times in the afternoon. Complimentary coffee in the morning was gone quickly and no refills arrived all three days of our stay, plus the area was a mess with coffee spills and sugar/ stir wrappers. Room service took forever and there were no towels at the pool for almost the entire afternoon. Bell Service was great; friendly during in and our of hotel, very informative and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable, décor was very nice and products were great. Staff issues were the key problems.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Make sure you receive up to date information on the St. Charles Trolley to the Garden district before you go. The tracks were being worked on when we were there and we had to get off and get on a bus less than a few miles from the pick-up at Canal St. Very frustrating that there were no signs or information about this for going into the garden district.

W in New Orleans

Overall our experience was pretty good. It was the weekend of the Jazz Featival so tath may have explained why housekeeping was so far behind. They did not clean our room until 5-6 PM and we often just said, nevermnd just gove us clean towels. Other than that teh staff was good and the location is fantastic being close to the French Quater and teh attrateions in the Warehouse districit.

1 hour carrage ride with John and his mule Shine was the hight of our trip. It is well worth the price. John is well versed in New Orleans history.

Good location, great staff, unsatisfactory room features

We were greeted by wonderful staff at the W and checked in without any problems. We started having difficulties after the first night. [1] every time we finished showering, the shower head would keep running with water for several minutes, stop, then re-run. [2] the toilet overflowed and flooded half of the room. The staff checked us into another room and I noticed that the new room's carpet also had many stains on it (as if there had been another bathroom flooding issue). [3] only the audio worked on the TV in the second room, but no images. Overall, I liked the hotel's location and the staff members' excellent service, but the plumbing, carpet, and TV need attention.
