Great location

Downstairs room with courtyard view was very nice. No elevator & steep stairs for other rooms. Noisy at times being at street level & by ice machine- but we stayed out late mostly. Great location just 2 streets over from Bourbon St.

great place

very friendly and helpful staff. nice, modern bathrooms and simple, but spacious room. The only downfall would be the layout of the hotel and getting to and from our room with our luggage. very unique in its format, but not so comfortable when there is no elevator and you have to walk up and down several short, old ( and questionably stable ?) staircases. though the staff is quick to carry your things for you if they are available to do so. all in all, very happy with my stay

Perfect location!!!

Pros: Perfect location in the French Quarter. A lil outside the crazy zone but close enough to it. Great restaurants all around. The staff is very friendly and helpful (Eric and Devin I'm talking about you!) Cons: the best room at the hotel also happens to be on the fourth floor....and there's no elevator. There's no light in the bathroom. No refrigerator in the room. All in all we had a great time in NOLA.

The French Quarter Connection

The Hotel Royal is the absolute perfect hotel. It is quiet enough at night to get some great sleep after a long day exploring. The room we stayed in was on the third floor and had a huge balcony to enjoy a cigar and some wine. It is a very quick walk to the center of excitement. There is a coffee shop next to the hotel where you can easily get your morning fix of caffeine. The staff were exceptionally helpful in providing maps and making suggestions on places to eat and things to do. We recommend the Gumbo Shop and Pere Antoinne's, just a quick 3-block walk down Royal. If you want a great hole-in-the-wall bar that does not charge you an arm and a leg for drinks, get great, friendly service and still be a tourist while feeling like you're part of the family, check out Johnny White's on Bourbon. Its just two blocks down Bourbon parallel to Royal. The haunted tours are awesome. Check out Alexander Addams on Facebook and get his stellar tour. The French Market is less than five minutes away and the riverboat Natchez is 10 minutes away. No need to drive anywhere. This is the best location hands down and you cannot beat the price even during peak season.

Great Girlfriend Getaway

Great location and the staff was excellent. The room was perfect for one person but would have been too small for two people. My only problem was that my room key quit working so I had to go to the front desk for a new key every time I wanted into my room.
