they charged me a $50 fee for a late check-out at 1pm. I was a bit annoyed. Have never had that happen.

Nickel and Dime...in casino chips
I've stayed at Harrah properties in the past, NOLA, Vegas, etc. I traveled to NOLA for a work-related convention, staying just one night. My flight landed in the morning, so I arrived at the hotel around 11am, wishing to check in and just place my bag in my room, then head to the convention. I was told that checking in prior to 4pm would incur a $30 fee. Now, the amount isn't the issue, but the principle behind it frustrated me. The host (which was nice by the way, and just doing her job), informed me that Harrah's stopped allowing early check-ins (without a fee) a few months ago. I asked around and others (non-employees) said they thought they changed the policy so that people would go gamble in the casino instead of go to their room early. My suspicion is that most people who wish to stay at a hotel-casino, when there's only one main casino in the city, will eventually play (which I did, multiple times). I also asked the host if there were any rooms available at 11am and she replied "yes," so it wasn't a matter of having availability. Either way, I had the bellhop store my bag, gave him $20 in tips (a better use than giving it to the company), and went on my way, only to return 5 hours later so I could finally check into my room, put my bag up, then immediately go back down and go to their casino. To some, this may be a petty issue, but with so many hotels within walking distance, I was surprised and disappointed that the level of customer service regarding Harrah's new policy has taken priority. The staff, accommodations, location, etc. was good, similar to any of the other hotels within a block (Loews, The W Hotel, Hilton, etc.). Needless to say, I will not be returning to a Harrah's property for lodging...they can continue taking my money at the table games...

No Guarantees!
We paid $389 per night up front for a Deluxe King NonSmoking room. All of this was listed on our room confirmation we received from. Upon check-in at we were told our room would be SMOKING! They said they did NOT GUARANTEE reservations made thru discount travel sites. We said you sell your product to and they sell on your behalf they were finally convinced after 15min to give us a non-smoking room (telling us we had bumped someone else from their non-smoking room) Check-in time is 4pm our room was not ready til 6pm. Defintitely not worth the $389 per night we paid.

had some problems
arrived and room was not ready at around 5:30 p.m. checked in and rested and planned to go across the street and gamble for a little while and then have a nice dinner in the area. Had a heart attack at around 7:20 in casino, taken to Tulane Med Center and was released against doctor's orders at 3:30 in the morning. Asked for late checkout so we could get some sleep before traveling to Houston. Front desk attendant would not approve the late check out so after a few hours sleep we had a harrowing drive on Sunday. Not the hotel's fault but kind of wrong not to allow us a few extra hours, hardly spent any time in room.

Harrah's is all about the owner! The staff are wonderful...but if you gamble there...the casino is very dishonest. Do not expect any type of comps! You will not get any!

Room cleanliness
The room was great, location perfect I liked that the hotel is not connect to the casino directly, but our hotel room carpet had a large stain infront of the closet I reported it to let them know it was not us, but they said it would take some time to get the carpet cleaned, hopefully they can get it done for the next person so it won't look so bad, very thing else was clean and fresh. Staff very freindly.
