Once was enough
Chose this hotel because of its "in the French Quarter" location, the free breakfast, the "great" staff and other review comments which seemed okay. The room was quaint and very quiet, and very old. The "queen" size bed was rather hard and did not feel like a full queen dimensionally, and the overall amenities were rather sparse. The service staff was friendly and helpful when asked, but the front desk staff needs some training. The hotel is on Rampart, which is actually on the border of the Quarter, but it's at least a six block walk to the fun areas. While New Orleans is, in my opinion, pretty safe, hotel guests should be aware that it's still a six block walk late at night, when fewer people are around. The breakfast was disappointing, not just due to the very limited selection #most lower priced chain motels have a better free breakfast#, but because of the weak coffee. Surprisingly weak given the normal strength of coffee in NOLA. Check-in was okay, but upon checking out, the two front desk staffers were way more interested in talking with each other than in helping clients. I tried to get their attention and was actually "shusshed" by one of them. My wife prevented me from crossing the counter or thowing them my card keys, but after paying for the $26 per night parking, I did not even receive a "thank you". Frankly, there is no excuse for that type of behavior, nor any reason to allow them to remain employed. I like a little adventure, but next time I go to NOLA for a quick getaway, I'll pay more and stay in a real French Quarter location, or possibly pay the same for higher quality in the Garden District or Uptown and ride the streetcars.

staff at check in were friendly and helpful - room was small but adequate - you could here conversations outside your room because there was a big gap between the outside door and the floor - breakfast was of but the coffee on both mornings was weak and we left the hotel to get real coffee - on check out i asked for directions to I-10 and the unpleasant desk man told me he didn't drive and lived and worked in the quarter and didnt know anything about directions

Great location for Mardi Gras
The hotel is a great affordable option if you are planning to be in the French Quarter area since is one of the cheapest you can find in that area and it has great services, amenities, breakfast included, etc. Another plus is that it is a very clean hotel.

Shady staff
We stayed in a two bedroom suite with some other family members. Overall the stay was great, but one major problem occurred that made me give this property a rating of TERRIBLE. I was sitting on the couch with my wife watching some TV, when a guy wearing a hotel uniform peers through the window, his breath fogging up the window. He looked in a particular direction and did not immediately see us. When he finally did see me he just nodded and walked away. I called the desk and the guy fed me an obvious lie about a cable man looking to see if we had cable and apologized. Called a second time when I saw the same employee later and was fed a different story about the man looking for a cot. This was not acceptable behavior, a knock at the door would have been better, and my wife and I no longer felt safe. Pros: Great location, fairly affordable for the room. Cons: Shady staff, stiff beds, loud busy street, expensive parking

Great location, easy to go pretty much anywhere in the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. Our trip was 3 girls in our early 20's and we never really had an issue of not feeling safe or anything.
