Beautiful NOLA location

Once we were checked in,.I was in love. Three staff was friendly, the overnight staff was more helpful and friendly than the day staff. The location was fantastic, though with the construction, getting in and out was quite a trek.

Parking across the street is cheaper than valet service ONLY if you will be there less than 24 hrs and are not going to be driving . We were not warned about the price of parking.

Perfect location - great character - helfpful staff!

The French Market Inn is located perfectly!! A nice walk to Cafe du Monde for beignets and coffee (almost too close as we had them more than once a day!) Close to Jackson Square and the French Market and Bourbon Street - but far enough away that you can enjoy the peaceful courtyards and beautiful architecture of the Inn. The French Market Inn is being renovated (we knew this before booking) Our room was not one that was renovated but it was very large, had great light and a courtyard view. One morning we were waiting for the elevator and after several minutes the manager came up to the fourth floor to tell us there was an issue with the elevator and he had called the elevator repair service. Very nice to let us know before we waited forever, another plus for the staff! The elevator was fixed upon our return. There was a coffee pot in the room we would have liked a small refrigerator and microwave, maybe those ammenities will be part of the renovation. The staff was very nice and helpful and even printed out our boarding passes for us the day we checked out. We chatted with the front desk person for sometime while waiting for Big E (from Big E Airport Taxi) to take us to the airport. GREAT - ON TIME - definately use Big E!) I will definately be back to New Orleans and plan on staying at The French Market Inn again, although after the renovations, I imaging the room prices will increase. I hope not out of my price range because The French Market Inn is a true New Orleans gem!!

ROYAL STREET - a shoppers paradise! The art work is amazing, the shops are filled with unique items (not like the many t-shirt and souvenir shops)

Excellent Location

Truly in the heart of the French Quarter; short walk to all of the popular sites. Our room was in the old quadrant of the hotel - people who were in the renovated units raved about them (hot water in the shower took some patience). Ours was comfortable and the service was what should be expected. We'd stay here again, however, I'd ask for one of the renovated units - even if it added a few dollars. Again, location, location, location - French Market has it.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the waterfront walk for a shortcut to down-town; up St Louis direct to Royal or Bourbon; head west to French Market – a lot to do and it’s all within minutes.

Great location but needs work

The hotel is situated in a great spot, near the French Quarter and walking distance straight down Decatur to Cafe Du Monde for morning coffee and beignets but the room I recieved was a disappointment. The bathroom had been cleaned but not well, you could see they had wiped down the walls because there were several long hairs sticking to it after being left behind by the cloth they had used to clean it. The towel rack had been replaced at some point as evidenced by the holes in the wall where the previous one had been mounted AND the newer one was missing one of the two cross bars. The walls were so thin the crying, and the talking of the kid across the hall sounded like he was IN the hall right outside the door. The mattress was like something you find in a sofa bed and I was pretty sure for a while that was where it was from. The blanket was hidden between two white sheets and for good reason, it looked like a hotel blanket salvaged from a Motel 6. Again, the location is great but don't expect much from the rooms.

A touch of history in the French Quarter

From the outside it is unassuming but tucked inside is a small oasis. The hotel surrounds a meandering courtyard where we had hoped to have a room overlooking it. This was not to be as we'd booked in a narrow window of opportunity between the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras. Our room was an internal one with no window but all was not lost. It did have a skylight and was newly refurbished with an ensuite bathroom. All fittings and furnishings were new, clean and fresh. Service was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Renovations are an on-going event but were not intrusive. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again.
