No problems with this hotel

Stayed here while visiting family in Algiers Point. The location was perfect for this visit, but if you are visiting other locations, it is off the main road. The hotel is adequate in every important aspect: clean, neat, comfortable. There is no complimentary breakfast, but you have a kitchenette in the room if you don't mind making your own. I'm not familiar with hotel prices in the New Orleans area, but I do think the price for this ordinary hotel room in an out of the way location is a little too much. I've stayed in similar hotels in other cities for less. But...if I visit here again, I would probably stay here again.

Jazz Festival 2013

My second year at this Hotel and like the first I felt at home. Safe, Clean, and near all the attractions without all the drama. I like getting up in the morning and fixing my own breakfast. The staff is great and I look forward to returning in 2014.

Good value but management needs to improve

I stayed here for two nights. First, let me say that I think this place has potential......under the correct management. The location is good, as you can take the ferry (45 min walk from hotel) across to the french quarter for free. It runs every half hour. Just don't plan on using it to come back if stay out late, as it stops running around midnight. The hotel is an old Navy base hotel, so rooms are basic.......which I expected and was fine with. The price was great to only be 4 miles from French quarter.....for taxi purposes because it sucks that you can't walk across the bridge. The only problem(s# we had were with the hotel staff. When we checked in, the first room wasn't made up #i.e. trash on floor, beds unmade, etc) by housekeeping. The front desk approrpiately changed out rooms, which the 2nd room was fine. Then, the next morning the staff didn't clean our room.....not sure why because we saw them in the hallway. The front desk was able to talk to the management and hopefully get it resolved. Just be forewarned that their housekeeping staff appear to be shady or management doesn't know how to manage their staff. There wasn't any complimentary breakfast, but didn't expect it either. Once they fix the housekeeping issue, this place is a great deal.

Take short walk (1.5 miles or 45 min) to ferry to French quarter and save on parking or taxi fares.

Will be returning

Great, safe, and clean place to stay. Staff was fantastic, especially Audrey! The ONLY issue we had was the lack of pool, but all of the positives completely made up for it! This is our hotel of choice from now on in New Orleans.

Nice Alternative, to French Quarter

Family friendly alternative to french quarter lodging. No fees for parking, clean comfortable rooms with nice kitchenettes, blocks away from ferry landing in historic Algiers. Ferry takes you to canal street, and river walk. Actually located on Naval Base; a bit hard to find on GPS with rental car but helpful staff to guide you in.

Very quiet area and well run establishment

We are ex military maybe that is why the location on a recently repurposed Navy Base appealed to us. The lack of traffic and noise was a special contrast to the activity of the French Quarter. The free ferry to Canal Street was one of the great parts of our stay. The room was five stars in my book. No granite. But roomier with a tiny kitchenette and sitting area.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The ferry from Algiers Point to the French Quarter. For cars $5.00 but what do you do with a car in the French Quarter? There is a great little parking lot ($5.00 a day) close to the ferry.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

A short drive from the hotel is the ferry, if you have a car for your stay in New Orleans pay the small parking fee and take the ferry over, you will save money and headaches plus you get a relaxing ride over and back and when the ferry docks alot of stuff is in walking distance and there are plenty of ways to get around such as the trolley, carriages, cabs etc. and they are lots of fun. Also if you plan to use the trolley get an all day pass for $3.00 instead of paying $1.25 every time you get on.
