Old but nice

the room was old, they didn't put up a shower curtain, so we flooded the bathroom floor and even though we requested a king, we got two small queens? maybe even full size beds. The staff was nice though and the hotel was overall clean and in a great location.

Awesome location.. Not right room

I love the location of this hotel - directly across from Harrahs. Very close to the river walk and bourbon street. However, I had paid for (paid more for!) a king room that was confirmed when booking. Yet the hotel said they showed queen on their end.. And didn't give me the king I paid more for!!!

just passing thru

We only stayed at the hotel for one night. We found the hotel to be in a great location and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the hotel is in need of an update. The carpet and "room fixings" were quite old and dated.

Disappointed after a great first stay

My wife and I were coming into town for a wedding and decided to extend our trip by a couple of days. We stayed in this hotel for the first and last night of our 4 night vacation the other two nights we stayed in a higher end hotel with the rest of the wedding. Our first night we were put on the hotels honor floor and had a great experience; it was quiet, the room was nice and we were upset we didn't just stay there instead of going to the second hotel. The second night in this hotel was a complete 180 and completely ruined the great image we had of the hotel. When we arrived they had not yet finished cleaning all the rooms on our floor which is fine but the cleaning crew was playing loud music which was disturbing when you are trying to relax. Secondly we our shower drain was clogged, we called the front desk whi did send someone right up, however that person did not fix the issue. The walls we so thin you could hear someone sneezing and talking in the next room and in the hallway almost all night. Finally the locks and doors in the hotel are so loud they sound like you are in prison (this happened on both floors we stayed on). In conclusion I would say if you are able to stay on thier honors floor you are going to have a great trip, the walls were thicker and it is much quieter but if not bring some ear plugs because its hard to sleep.

Decent for the price and location.

The Doubletree by Hilton NOLA is a reasonably priced choice for the Canal street location. I chose it for those things and because we wanted a pool (respite from the 90 degree heat), and a gym (spare, but ok, really). The place is fine, although it could use a little TLC. It looks tired and a bit worn around the edges: the marked carpet, the not-so-clean windows, the stains in the sink… The rooms are on the small side, and, in particular, our bathroom was very tight with an exceptionally low sink/counter, but the beds were comfortable and the linens were nice and clean. There are no extra blankets or pillows in the closet, so you have trouble (like we did) getting the AC just right…you should plan ahead. The staff is nice, but not overly helpful or attentive. We did not eat at the restaurant. Too many REALLY great food options nearby to eat corporate pre-made stuff. A couple of things people should know: -The valet parking is $39./night, which is on the higher side for NOLA. The valet service was reasonable, although I would recommend calling from your room 10-15 minutes before you want to drive away. -The pool is nice, on the 4th floor, with a bit of a view. We we're a disappointed to discover that it is also a respite for the smokers at the non-smoking hotel. Several of them rented the rooms that open up onto the pool deck, and then use it as a place to smoke. Also, on Friday night, we went to cool off at 9pm. The water was nice, but the hotel had very loud radio music playing. The songs weren't bad, but the ads were awful.
