The Bourbon Orleans Hotel has many stories to tell, sitting on the site of both the grand old Orleans Theater and Ballroom, and a former convent. Restored in the 1960s in the Creole style of the French Quarter, the Bourbon's rooms are all unique. From the gilded hangings of the ballroom and meeting halls to the Provencal furnishings of the Governor's Suite, the grandeur of Old Louisiana is everywhere guests look. A complimentary welcome beverage at the Bourbon O is your initial dose of New Orleans hospitality, while resident Creole restaurant, Roux, serves up jumbo shrimp and fried green tomatoes. The saltwater pool forms a calm oasis in the courtyard, a quiet counterpoint to the Bourbon Street bustle outside the front door.

Neighborhood
Right on Bourbon Street, the Bourbon Orleans boasts quick access to the attractions of the French Quarter, as well as some of the finest music found in the "Birthplace of Jazz". Head down Orleans Street for the pedestrian-only section of Royal Street and its lively outdoor performers, or take a detour down Pirate Alley, which runs along the west side of St. Louis Cathedral and ends at Jackson Square, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. You're also never far from the banks of the Mississippi and its vintage steamboat tours.
Hints and tips
Balcony suites overlook Bourbon Street, St. Ann or Orleans Street, and the grand St. Louis Cathedral, so book here for a unique vantage point.

Those with a taste for the supernatural should keep their eyes peeled for the Bourbon's three 'resident' ghosts, including a confederate soldier patrolling the sixth and third floors and a spectral figure waltzing beneath the ballroom chandeliers.

Not Customer Service Oriented

The hotel itself is in a perfect location and absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the staff isn't very guest friendly. My evening was ruined by a security card calling my child a "liar" and raising his voice to me when I asked to speak with the manager. No efforts were made to make up for the staff's rude and inexcusable behavior. I'm very sad to say that I cannot recommend this hotel.

Perfect location

They kept us waiting at 3 in the afternoon until the room was ready. The desk staff advised me that this was a quiet room - not likely, this was on the courtyard peering over the pool. Plenty of people were there until the pool closed in the evening and the hall was very noisy. That said, the location in the Quarter is ideal! The concierge provided superior service. The desk staff, other than at check-in, provided excellent service. The waitress at the cafe can't tell the difference between a clean table and a dirty table and never seemed to be able to clear and clean our table even though she showed us to that table.

my stay at bourbon Orleans

The stay was very comfortable and the strategic location of this hotel is such a plus .. Bourbon street is a 30second walk .. Now coming to the things I didn't like .. We had a standard room and the hotel staff encouraged that we upgrade to a better room with a king size bed as the standard room would have a queen size bed and no view ... We did that at an additional cost of 15 USD per night .. The room was perfect but when we decided to go for a swim we got to know that that the pool was shut due to maintainance .. Now when we spoke to the manager about it he wasn't ready to accomadate the loss of a pool with making the upgrade free and offering complimentary breakfast ... Nothing .. When we pay for the hotel we pay for all the amentities if one of them is missing the hotel should compensate by offering something so that the consumers don't feel cheated .. We stayed at the hotel for three nights and since it was so hot in Nola we always wanted to end our day with a swim but unfortunately we were unable to. Small things leave a lasting impression ... Just saying ..

NOLA

We stayed at the Bourbon Orleans over New Years and had a fantastic stay. We arrived very early (10 am) and the front desk staff were very helpful and tagged our luggage so that we could start exploring the city. They called us just one hour later and said our room was ready! Fabulous staff, fantastic bar with the best bartenders and drinks as well. Great location and very easy walking distance to just about anywhere. The room was small but cozy and very clean. Even though our room faced Bourbon Street overlooking the courtyard, noise was never an issue. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we look forward to another vacation in NOLA!

Perfect location!

This hotel was in the BEST location. A block from Jackson Square and a block from Bourbon Street. The staff was very nice and gave great restaurant recommendations (try the Wine bar across the street). The only time we could hear any noise from Bourbon Street was Saturday night but other than that it was perfect. I will stay here every time I return to New Orleans!

Ideal Location

The staff was friendly, the room was clean and we wished we could have taken the bed and pillows home with us!!! Only steps away from any amenity you could desire. Drink prices in the "O" Bar were a little over the top, but the entertainment was lovely. I will be looking into returning again next year at the French Quarter Festival, only this time, I will try to get a balcony room to see all the activities from a bird's eye view!!!

Great for our needs

This was an excellent hotel right in the heart of the French Quarter. Great location, great staff. The rooms were fine. Perfect for what you'd expect in an old French Quarter hotel. Wasn't too noisy at all even given we were there during the peak of Carnival. Only complaint is that I was hoping to see a ghost!

Great hotel in the center of it all

The Bourbon Orleans is the perfect hotel for seeing New Orleans. IT is in the perfect location, the rooms are very nice. The attached bar/lounge is great as well. The nightly singer in the lounge was excellent. The staff is beyond friendly during out entire stay. Jackson Square is literally a block away. So many shops and restaurants, artists right next door. A quick taxi ride to Frenchman Street. NO more then 5 minutes. It just doesn't get 5 stars only because its not at the luxury level of some higher end places.
