French Quarter: Lots of restaurants, listening to jazz, shopping. By taking the public transportation, it will take you to these places without the headache of driving in traffic and difficult to find parking.

Great location!
Stayed here for a long weekend for the Final Four. The location and neighborhood is fantastic. We walked everywhere or caught a streetcar which stops within 200 feet of the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location in a beautiful area
I went for three nights, starting on a Friday. There was quite a bit going on, including a Saints/Falcons football game. I think this was part of the noise problem, as I think there were a fair number of fans in the hotel. Much celebrating after the visiting team won in overtime. The staff was helpful and the breakfast very nice. It was certainly good value for the money, especially given that the hotel next door was $50-$80 more a night and those rooms were MUCH smaller than the one I stayed in. I know this b/c that is where I had friends staying. This hotel is right on the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar line and is convenient to anywhere you want to go, without being in the middle of the fray. The Garden District is beautiful and the stay was really nice.

Try to travel by streetcar or on foot. If you want to go to the heavily visited areas like the French Quarter, you will spend more time in your cab, going nowhere, than if you used the streetcars to get there.Buy a pass for multiple day use.

Everything was great. They even had their own free secure parking lot. The only exception is the elevator was a little scary, loose parts or falling apart, not sure.

What a Wonderful Hotel
We were delighted to arrive and find a bright, clean lobby with easy access to a gated parking lot; "Lacey" at the front desk with so many helpful suggestions on how to get around and where to eat; an elaborate breakfast in the morning; a street car thar runs literally right past the front door; a safe neighborhood; large, clean room with comfy beds; extra sink/dressing area; and generally a feeling that we were in real comfort. Not a single negative. This is an older hotel that has been remodeled by Best Western, and that older, European feeling is still there. I'd go back there in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to you.

Street car is $1.25 plus $.25 for a transfer (Seniors ride for $.40). Take the St. Charles car to the Canal St. car, then tranfer again to the Riverfront car. This will take you to Jackson Square and plenty of great things to see and do, especially in the daytime. Nighttime is entirely different (some streets are darker and single women traveling will want to be careful where they wander). Cafe Du Monde (open 24 hours) and Aunt Sally's Praline Shop are next to each other - they were our daytime destinations. We asked some locals where to get a reasonably priced seafood dinner and they recommended the Alpine, which happened to be closed for the filming of a Kate Hudson movie (yes, we took photos of her shooting the film), but the manager of Alpine recommended walking 2 blocks up the street to the Charter House Restaurant. Perfect, great food, good prices. Imagine getting about 20 jumbo shrimp with hush puppies and fries for only $14.95! It was delicious, as was the gumbo/jambalaya/beans & rice combo for $18.00. Very friendly staff, great people-watching location. If you're driving your car into the area, public parking on the riverfront is $5.00 for 1st hour, $8.00 for 2 hours, etc. If you're traveling up Canal St. and you want amazing Italian gelato, cookies, cannollis, spumoni, etc., go to the corner of Canal and Carrollton (about 40 blocks up from the Fr. Qtr., and turn right. Address is 214 N. Carrollton Ave. Authentic and wonderful.
