BEST WESTERN Avalon Hotel

Hotel was right near the transition area and start of the Tri. this made it great for the event. It's a little far outside the city if you head to the French Quarter and drink, 8 miles. Was not a concern on this trip.

Front desk not very friendly. Didn't give informations about city even we ask for taxi and they told us to call directly. Last night they didn't clean our room.

Took family to New Orleans to stay the weekend. Hotel was well priced good driving distance to the mall, zoo and the aquarium. Hotel was very clean staff was very nice would definitely stay again.

The restaurant is closed. The front desk didn't have any singles or quarters for me to use in the vending machine. And that was that - they weren't going to do anything about it on a Sunday evening. The cold water faucet in my sink didn't work. Two days later - "Oh, we had to order a part. Won't be here until next week. All rooms booked; can't move you; so sorry." It takes 30+ minutes to get a cab, which costs $28.00 to the Convention Center. Most of the staff are friendly enough, and clearly this ONCE WAS a nicer hotel. Not any more.

When we pulled up to the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Hotel looked. For the price was expecting it to be run down. However it wasn't until I got inside that my concerns came true. We walked in to find the Hotel was undergoing renovation. Construction workers were using the only operating elevator and at times it took 10 minutes to wait for the elevator. I tried to use the stairs but the stairs only led to a fire door that would set off the alarm if opened. Came back from a morning trip to find construction workers in my room with drywall dust all over my stuff and all the furniture. TV reception was horrible making it hard to even find a channel that was clear. I think next time, I'll spend a little more and go to the Hampton one street over where everyone else in our group was staying.

A friend and I stayed at the BW Avalon not long after they had suffered hurricane damage. Our floor was being completely remodeled, and they had loud de-humidifiers all the way down our hallway. The dining area was also shut down, and breakfast was in another room. Overall, the room was clean (considering), the staff seemed pleasant enough, and it was cheaper than staying in NO, though it's a bit out of the way and there isn't much in the way of food around the hotel itself. I expected some kind of discount considering the state of the hallway (which was beginning to smell like mold), but none was offered.

Very friendly front desk. Super clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Nice treadmill and good breakfast, great coffee. Easy in and out, no hidden fees. We were pleased with the hotel for the price. Very pleasant. However, dont bother going to the Popeye's down the road, horrible service and BIG attitudes from the manager and employees.

The hotel was nice, clean, and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay.

The current wait staff and cook are outstanding, but the manager is killing this restaurant.

I thought the room would be bigger. But it was okay for the price I paid. The breakfast was okay, but there was not always someone there when you needed them. I would stay there again for the same price.
