Comfort with character
My girlfriend and I stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights. We loved the fact that it wasn't a "cookie-cutter" hotel where everything looks the same. It retains the character of the old style New Orleans condos, which it originally once was. I appreciated the organic bath soaps and shampoos and was impressed to find a microwave, refridgerator, and sink in a sort of kitchenette area in our room. We had no trouble finding on street parking, though we were advised by a hotel employee to park on MLK rather than some of the poorly lit, nearby streets. I wasn't surprised by the warning as I've heard most of New Orleans is a mixed bag--the beautiful often being found near the grotesque. I was glad to not have to pay a parking fee like I might have at other nearby hotels. We walked around the surrounding Garden District admiring classic Greek architecture in the old plantation homes. Fun shops and eateries are also nearby, as well as a Walgreens for those forgotten travel items. We caught the historic St. Charles streetcar line #the oldest continuously running streetcar in the world# directly in front of the hotel and rode up to the French Quarter. Day passes are cheap.

Great location
This was a great location for me and my husband's romantic getaway vacation. Very quaint. We rode the street card to most of our destinations and it is located in front of the hotel. I wished the room would of been bigger, but for what we paid, it was still nice.

More like a bed & breakfast
The hotel is two old houses that have been converted into guest rooms. They're both interesting buildings that have high ceilings and comfortable rooms. It's not a Holiday Inn or a Ramada -- it's more like a guest house from the 1930s (which it actually is). My room was comfortable for a 3-night stay, but it clearly hasn't been updated in some time. The carpet was worn and there were water stains on the ceiling. Location, on St. Charles Ave near downtown was excellent. Easy access to the French Quarter and Canal Street via the streetcar line. I cancelled my rental car because of it, and had no regrets. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotel was alright. Good for the price and pretty good location. Very old building lots of character. Room was small and bed was big and Not comfortable. No water pressure. Very basic amenities provided. You can hear a lot of things. Hotel next to streetcar stop and near a few bars and restaurants. Slice next door was real yummy.

If you're looking for modern, sanitized, boring place to stay, then go ahead and book at one of the big chains. If however, you want a clean, comfortable hotel, in a great location, with wonderful staff and old school New Orleans charm, this is the place for you.

Perfect little getaway...
This is a hidden little gem in New Orleans. The place is away from the French Quarter enough to to give you a quiet night, but close enough to get you there in 5 mins driving. Great Staff!!! Will be back to this place for sure!!!
