Kill that popcorn machine!
In almost every aspect, the Drury Inn at Mt. Vernon, IL is a good place to stay. But when they 'fire up' the pop corn machine in the lobby the hallways reek.

"9th Street Grill" in downtown Mt. Vernon has an interesting food and wine selection, very good service. For a special meal, this beats the franchise restaurants hands down! 30 Oct 11 by Steve & Jo

Adequate but outdated
The Drury Inn was very average and priced above its value. The building itself is old and the decor outdated. There were several lower priced options but we wanted to stay in a place that was, supposedly, nicer and that allowed dogs. We could have saved money for the same quality with the lower priced places (i.e. Motel 6 for $40). The room was very hot, despite adjusting the thermostat down.

Great Hotel, Great Value!
We've stayed at this Drury multiple times. The staff is always friendly, and the rooms are always comfortable and clean. In general, Drury Inns are great, and this one tends to be less expensive than most -- a great value. There's free internet, even an hour of free long distance, popcorn in the lobby for the kids, and a full hot breakfast. There's no table in the room, but there is a desk, a comfortable recliner, fridge & microwave.
