All business for Printers Row hotel in Chicago
A short walk to the Board of Trade, this Printers Row hotel caters to the business traveler, but tourists fancying a walk around the Loop will find its location convenient and less congested. Architectural buffs will appreciate its historic location and origin as the Morton and Duplicator building home. But the Wyndham Hotel Blake’s connections to the 19th Century end there. For proof, look to modern rooms with city views.
Highlights
  • Free high-speed wireless Internet access
  • iPod alarm clocks in all rooms
  • 24-hour fitness center
Rooms
Rooms at the Wyndham Hotel Blake feel more like a Loop residence than a hotel thanks to 12-foot vaulted ceilings, windows that fill the space with natural light and lovely city views. Neutral and red tones complement dark wood headboards and nightstands. Oversized rainshower heads in the bathrooms add to the luxury. High-speed and wireless Internet is available free in all rooms.
Features

With deadlines to meet and presentations to run, professionals are short on time. Fitting in time for a great meal or scheduling time for some pampering are often out of the question. At the Wyndham Hotel Blake, both amenities are arranged without having to leave the property.

At the end of a long day, arrange for massages and facials using the Pangea Organics Ecocentric Skincare and Body Line. Expecting moms request a Baby on Board Massage, performed in the side-lying position to alleviate back tension.

Very nice room

The front desk was friendly and accommodated us with an early check-in. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It is very close to millinium park and the south loop. I would stay here again.

Standard Hotel Stay

I took the L from O'Hare to the hotel. It was well-located and easy to find, but I expected it to be more upscale based on the photos from the website. The hotel staff was courteous and friendly upon check-in. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. My room was much smaller than I expected and had a lovely view of the brick wall of the building next door. The hotel is within walking distance of several great places to eat and some fun music venues. As a whole, I was satisfied enough with the experience.

Very responsive staff; friendly, helpful and very upbeat. I love the styling of the hotel, an older building but beautifully updated. I've stayed at the Wyndham Blake a number of times and never been disappointed.

Overrated

My boyfriend planned a nice trip to Chicago for the weekend. He wanted to stay somewhere nicer than we had stayed previously, so he researched several "luxury" hotels, including this hotel. The pictures and descriptions on their website made this hotel seem like a great stay. However, once we got there, we were instantly disappointed. The valet service was a joke- we waited for a very long time just to pay $44 dollars to park our truck there for one night. When we checked in, the valet provided no information to us. We found out the next day that a marathon was being held on Sunday, so we would have to move our truck to another lot to self park it so we wouldn't be blocked in the parking lot. The bums outside the hotel hassled the customers right outside the entrance. The lobby of the hotel was nice, with beautiful decor, and a bar set up for guests (which we later spent $16 for only two small drinks). When we got to our room, we discovered that it looked nothing like the pictures posted online. The room was very, very small, didn't have the convenience of a fridge. When we went in search of ice, we were informed that the closest ice machine was on floor 12 (we were located on floor 6). Although the room description stated that the room would have a tub/shower combo, the bathroom only contained a small shower with a half wall that sprayed water on the bathroom floor, and took an excessive amount of time to have heated water. The room also did not contain the bathrobes that were promised or the beautiful view shown on the website. The TV provided was nice, but the cable stations lagged every time we changed the channel. The walls of this hotel must have been paper-thin because we not only heard sirens and traffic day and night, but we could also hear noises from the hallways and other rooms. There were postings for a continental breakfast, but it cost $9 per person, which we thought was a bit expensive. Our apprehensions were confirmed when we decided to give it a try and showed up two hours before breakfast was scheduled to end and this continental breakfast consisted of a handful of picked over bagels and some juice. Needless to say, we did not pay for breakfast and instead checked out early. In conclusion, our stay at this "luxury" hotel was anything BUT a luxury. Due to the high price of a night's stay as well as the high price of parking, and all of the added expenses as well as headaches endured during this trip, we will never again stay at this hotel, nor recommend it to anyone we know.

Fantastic Hotel

My significant other and I decided to stay in Chicago this weekend for Easter weekend to get some rest and relaxation. We were stuck between a hotel located right on Michigan Avenue and the Wyndham Blake Hotel. I must tell you that we definitely made the right decision by choosing the Wyndham for our stay. We took the Metra into the city and only had to make a 10 minute trek to the hotel which was a definite plus. Upon reaching the hotel, we were greeted by the friendliest doorman who was very informed on everything the city offered including dining, museums, transportation, etc. We checked into our room and got put into a room on the 11th floor with an amazing view of the CNA Building, The Public Library, and the Willis Tower. The room was warm, cozy, and offered breathtaking views. We will definitely be returning in the future. I recommend this hotel to families, couples, and singles looking for an affordable hotel in a great location.

Affordable Local Stay

Received a last minute hotel in the area. The staff was great, we arrived very early in the morning and were lucky enough that they had a room available for us. Downside was when we first booked the room, the information we saw said there was a full breakfast. When we got to the hotel, the breakfast was only bagels and coffee and was $9 per person! Definitely not worth it considering all the other food options in the area. The other downside was the bed. I've stayed in hotels all across the country and I've found beds in cheap motels that were more comfortable than these. The bed was hard, the sheets were itchy, definitely not soft, and the pillows were small and not very comfortable. I do have to admit, the shower was incredible. One of the best hotel shower heads I've experienced which was nice being out in the cold and snow all day to come back and enjoy a nice hot shower. Although the accommodations had a few negatives, the staff more than made up for it by being incredibly friendly and helpful. I stopped by every morning to ask advice for bus or train travel and restaurant suggestions; they never let me down. The room was also very clean and put together when we returned to our room in the evening. Overall it was a very nice stay for the money and a great location for visiting the parks and museums of Chicago.

A Comfy few days

Quaint and charming, the hotel currently does not have an inhouse restaurant. BUT-- we were pleasantly surprised that we could get 'room service' from the restaurant across the street...Gino's. The staff was superb in friendliness, help in sending us to neat neighborhood restaurants, responding to our calls, catching cabs, making suggestions, etc. We felt 'right at home'. We would definitely stay there again. Great value!
