Good downtown location and concierge service
Concierge helped you with directions, to find attractions and with different dining experiences. The places were not very far, at most a five minute cab ride.

In a good location in downtown. A couple blocks from Millenium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. Close to a couple CTA transit stops, which is nice.

Wonderful sisters trip!
The Palmer House is a beautiful Hotel with an abundance of charm. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I would also tell you to spend the extra 25 a night to have the Exectuative experience because that topped of the experience with all that is included in it!

Impressive history, small room and noisy
The hotel was centraly located close to Millenium park. A 15 minutes walk to Magnificent mile shopping. The staff was not very friendly, and the room was small. We were two people, and suddenly started getting just one bath towel. I had to let them know before I got another. Also- you can hear everything from the rooms next door. That was very annoying and made it hard to sleep particularly due to one of the guests that had a loud and rather piercing voice and got mad a lot. Not much you can do, because that somebody is talking next door is hardly a reason to complain. We will not stay there again!!! Very dissapointed.

Less Than I Expected
I found the lobby to be very stately, and the staff were more than pleasant. On the other hand, the rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. It's quite cramped. I could not have imagined traveling with anyone and staying at this hotel. Further, I actually came back to my room one afternoon with all of the clean linens stacked on top of the ironing board and the bed completely bare. The pillow cases had not been swapped and there were no new towels in the room. Had to call housekeeping to address the problem. They did, and quickly, but I've never stayed anywhere that I had to call housekeeping for not making the bed. The elevator situation is charming at first, but after many 5-10 minute waits to actually catch one going in the right direction, it became quite frustrating. I could not get a cell call out of this hotel, and I could not even make a local call without going through concierge. Even still I was charged for a local call. I got a fair rate as part an airfare/hotel bundle, but other than the fact that the staff was pleasant, what you pay to stay (room service, parking, etc.), I found this to be less than optimal. I hope Hilton can make a few changes to really put this historic hotel in the category it deserves to be in.

Great location!
We had a tradeshow at the mccormick place and it's close. The parking is expensive at the hotel though! $60/night comparing to the self parking which is half the price. It's really great value if you are not driving at your stay.

distinctive experience
with a location in the heart of the historic center of the city, and unique and impressive architecture, this hotel offers a distinctive experience of the city. you can walk quickly to most destinations, or you can sit in the lobby and admire the view. and you don't pay nearly the luxury hotel prices for this experience

Comfort & Location
We stayed 2 nights in May while moving my daughter out of her dorm in the Loop. The room was clean, large, very comfortable, with very comfortable queen beds and a sitting area. Hallways are lined with photos of past performers at the hotel from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. Lobby/lounge is huge, convenient and busy. Large Starbucks in the hotel on the street level is very convenient for a quick start in the morning. Easy hotel exits onto Monroe, State and Wabash. Excellent curbside assistance.
