Two nights downtown
Being able to afford a stay at the here was unexpected, but cost only $11/night less than a rather seedy river east motel, thanks to a special cut rate from an online site. I expected a maid's closet, but got a spacious, beautifully appointed room with a partial view of Lake Michigan. Room appointments were posh by my standards. The bathroom was marble and fixtures classic style luxury. All service was grand and amenities were extensive. And the location, at the north end of the magnificent mile, was perfect for walking about.

Long walk from hotel
The most under-appreciated museum in Chicago (Museum of Surgical Science at 1524 N. Lake Shore Dr.) is just a walk away along beautiful Lake Shore Drive.

Great Stay
The Drake was a great hotel. Everyone was super accommodating. It wasn't super fancy in the rooms but they were nice. The cleaning staff was very nice and even showed us another room's view of the lake.

Beautiful, Classic hotel!
I had a great experience staying at The Drake Hotel! My husband and I were in town for my birthday and when in small talk, I told the check in people why we were in town and I found a mini chocolate cake had been put in our room for my bday! The hotel is older, but beautiful. The staff is nothing but friendly and they are able to help you with whatever is needed. I would stay here again for sure.

Enjoyed my stay
The Drake is a great place to stay because of the location, the friendly staff, the "classic hotel" ambiance. I also love the lounge. It's always a great place to stop for drinks after meetings or shopping.

Very nice!
My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and really enjoyed the hotel. Very good location, very clean & the gym was a total bonus amenity! The only downside is having to pay for internet, but the cafe on the ground level has free WIFI so we just used that in the morning while getting some coffee. We had the 'smaller than usual, limited view room' which worked fine - I was worried it would be nosy or really really small but neither was true! Very spacious room, not the greatest view, but that didn't bother us. I would recommend this hotel!

Great weekend!
First time at the Drake. Very nice. Chose it because of it's location to our dinner and jazz choice. We were able to walk there and back which saved some cab money. Had the breakfast buffet. It was a little pricey but food was good. There goes our cab savings! But that's how it goes in the city. All considered, we enjoyed a smooth and relaxing weekend.

The Drake
The Drake needs that something special - staff needs to be more sincere and less forced with their hospitality. Room needs to be updated and tub needs to be cleaned so there is not residual dirt in the groves. Food is average and needs updating - overal experience is fair.
