Contemporary style, European charm in Chicago
In the Roaring '20s, this boutique Streeterville hotel hosted celebrities and showgirls. While those times have faded, the air of glamour remains at the Inn of Chicago, an Ascend Collection hotel. For proof, just stroll the lobby, where zebra ottomans, fresh-cut orchids and metallic embossed walls create drama and urban appeal. With its central location and focus on value, the Inn of Chicago is a gem for business or leisure travelers seeking convenient access to the Magnificent Mile and its many diversions.
Highlights
  • Prime Chicago location just east of Magnificent Mile
  • Free high-speed wireless Internet access
  • Complimentary stay for children under 18
  • The 22nd floor Skyline Terrace
Rooms
The rooms and suites at the Inn of Chicago feel more like apartments than hotel rooms, and that’s on purpose. Back in the 1920s, the former Hotel St. Clair offered one-bedroom apartments, and the effects linger today at the Inn of Chicago. Space for entertaining, working and lounging are separate from the sleeping area. Big picture windows with skyline views, photos of Chicago, zebra upholstery and unique layouts lend to a chic city vibe.
Features
Great city views might well be the most valuable cache for Chicago hotels and for the Inn of Chicago, this view comes at the Skyline Terrace on the 22nd floor. The Sky Suites also provide lofty views, while a dedicated party space accommodates up to 100 guests for weddings and other social events.

Is the Inn of Chocago really The Bates Hotel?

The room was dank and dark, The bathroom floor was dirty, grout was black. Hair in the tub. The towels were tattered, The hallways had the overwhelming smell of deodorizer, The cleaning staff did not speak any English. If I didn't prepay I would have left. It was the worst hotel ever. I'm sure the staff will comment to apologize, which fooled me into making this reservation,. I thought they were attentive or the complaints on line were "one offs". This place is a dump. They should be kicked off of Magnificent Mile!

Very good bargin.

Very good location. Was able to check-in early with no hassle. Arrived at the hotel at 8:00am. Bathroom was a little small but it worked. Really liked the hotel, only bad thing was the wi-fi connection. Actually the wi-fi and internet connection were poor. We used the business center and paid for internet and still had a very slow connection. Gave up on any internet connection.

Fantastic location and nice stay

Staying here feels like you are in the middle of everything - shopping and restaurants, even a great grocery store. I highly recommend it. The only thing I wish my room had was a refrigerator, even a little one, so I can store leftovers from the great restaurants around there. But that's ok. Everything else was great. Nice bar too.

quick and easy and comfortable

The staff is fantastic, calling cabs, providing me with an extra key, knowing the hours of surrounding businesses. The bed was very comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms are dated, but clean. The elevators are excessivley slow. The bar is a nice touch but some patrons should have been cut off earlier.

Great Location... Everything else Blah...

We went there for a Bulls game from out of town and wanted to stay somewhere close to everything since we didn't have a car. It was very close to Michigan ave, Navy Pier, and a ton of recommended restaurants like some of the famous chicago style pizzas.. the only cab ride we needed was to the United Center and Field Museum.. That was the positive about the hotel... The hotel itself is below average to me. The bed was soooo uncomfortable my back still hurts - feels like you're sleeping on concrete. The room was tiny, which ok not spending a lot of time there but NO fridge and NO microwave?! Are you serious? So all of our delish left overs were wasted. There is no way to control the room temp and we were very hot, plus each room has a tacky window unit in it. The rooms had a funny smell and our room was next to the staff elevator so we heard them all morning in the early am's. We were also woke up to the staff vacuuming the room next to us, it was so loud it sounded like they were in our room! Plus the windows were tiny (with no view but didn't expect that) Also it was the only hotel I've stayed at that didn't have HBO.. the other channels came in very fuzzy like they stole illegal cable or something. The tiny tv was placed in a weird angle too, where you can't watch it while laying in bed.. VERY ANNOYING! If all you care about is location its great, if you care about your room too, go elsewhere.

Pleasure/Working Weekend

Great Location, Friendly and courteous staff, small room...needed some minor attention, eg. smoke detector hanging from ceiling, but appeared working. Repaired promptly upon notice to front desk. Asked for additional facial tissues and was accomodated promptly. Room could use updating. I would go back at the same discounted rate. Bellmen were very attentive and helpful.
