Mediocre
The hotel was situated in a good location. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, they didn't have a fitted sheet on the bed and the sheets were not washed well. The lighting in the bathroom could have been brighter and the cleanliness could have been better overall. That noted, the location was good and the room was quaint. The room I stayed in is a great size for one person but a little cramped for two.

Great deal!
I stayed at the Hard Rock because that was the location of the Seminar I was attending. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the room and loved the bathroom. The bed was a little too hard for me. The room was also right above a busy street with lots of trucks, cars and sirens all night long and my window was stuck open a crack so I couldn't shut out the noise. Next time I would make sure I requested a room away from the traffic. Otherwise it was great.

Disappointed in Florida
Hard Rock Rocks
The people at the front desk were genuinely friendly - especially the 22 yr. old born in 1988 (sorry I can't remember her name) - made me feel at home. The only issue with the room was the old school fridge stuffed with overpriced munchies I could have got at the local 7-11 for 25% what was being charged - really minor issue. The only other issue was the memorabilia - I've been in Hard Rocks from Orlando to England to Paris and this one had the fewest items. OVERALL - A WELL ABOVE AVERAGE HOTEL IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION.

Short walk from hotel
If you are flying into Midway, for less than $3, you can get on the Orange Line and get off at Randolph/Wabash Station and have a short walk to the hotel - a fun ride on the "L" you have seen in movies and a great overview of the LOOP area. There are a good number of panhandlers all over downtown Chicago - surprising since none of them seemed to be physically disabled - appear to think of this as a vocation - best to ignore because the ones I saw who got something badgered the giver for more.......

Nice location, nice price
Nice hotel. There are various artifacts from musical artists scattered throughout the hotel (my floor had a necklace from Annie Lennox). The room was clean and decorated with a modern flare. The room was a bit dark, as it lacked large-area lighting. Internet access costs extra (not included in the room rate). The location is superb, about 3 blocks from an El stop, 3 blocks from the Art Institute of Chicago, 3 blocks from the lake, and 2 blocks to the Wrigley Building. The hotel is near the heart of Michigan Ave. If you're planning on hanging out mostly in downtown Chicago, this is a great choice.

China Grill, the restaurant next door, has very good food. The name is misleading, as this is NOT Chinese food. Consider it more of an international and Asian fusion combo, if that makes any sense. They also offer a discount for Hard Rock Hotel guests.

Great Location
Hard Rock Hotel Chicago is right on Michigan Avenue. Every room has a view at this place. I was traveling alone and the front desk was very accomidating to my requests for a room with a great view. The night shift concierges was friendly and always helpful about what was close by for shopping an dining. The room itself had plenty of a room and a great shower. The hotels effort to go green was also a nice touch, they give you the option of reusing your towels, if you don't want to you leave them on the floor. I figured I reuse my towels at home, why not now. Overall the experience was great, it's a great location and well worth the money.
