Roaring 1920s meets the rockin' present
Towering 40 floors above the Magnificent Mile, the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago was an institution long before celebrity guests like Dave Navarro passed through its black polished granite and terra cotta walls. The Carbide & Carbon Building earned landmark status in 1996 for its designóa champagne bottle with gold-foil top bubbling over the Windy City. Today, the property takes on rocker appeal and remains a popular place to stay. Room walls are covered with rock-n-roll memorabilia and hip room decor to keep the party going all night long.
Highlights
  • On the Magnificent Mile, near Millennium Park and Grant Park
  • China Grill Restaurant
  • 10 free iTunes downloads
  • Gibson Guitar rentals
  • Staffed business center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Would not recommend

went to chicago for New years the hotel pictures on the website were nothing like they looked. the carpet was old and dirty, the lighting was so dim we had to go to the fitness center to put make-up on. the room was extremely small had two queen beds but no where to put anything. the decor was outdated. the only rest in the hotel was a chinese rest that didn't even smell inviting. had to call the front desk three times to get a lightbulb for the lamp. would not stay again...

Disappointment at Hard Rock

Compared to my other hotel experiences this year (in Michigan City and St.Louis) the Hard Rock stands out as having the most additional and hidden fees. The Hard Rock charges a ridiculous amount for things like parking ($46 A NIGHT) and $14 for internet and the list goes on. Really? In this day and age? $14 for internet? Also the TV in the room did not like to turn channels easily and two of the light bulbs were broke. I recommend any of the many other hotels in the area instead.

My review of Hard Rock Hotel Chicago

The Hard Rock Chicago was very close to theaters and amenities. The location was very good, but the room was really noisy at night and also early in the morning. The noise from the outside is perfectly heard even from the 7th floor. The mini bar is expensive, and there is a sensor so that you can't even move anything from the inside and put it in another place, because, then it is automatically charged in your account. The staff is quite kind, but the cleaners, don't add new clening stuff (soap or champoo)everyday in the morning.

Great location, sub-par staffing

I spent Christmas visiting family in Chicago. I booked what I thought was an upgraded room at the Hard Rock b/c of it's great location. When I arrived the room was grossly misrepresented. I upgraded for an additional fee. The holiday staffing was skeleton at best. No breakfast room service and the front desk staff seemed extremely put out to be at work. I would not stay here again and I will advise this to everyone that I know.

Osteria Via Stato was a great dining experience for a large group. Family-style Italian is always a good bet and the staff is excellent.

Weekend in Chicago

I was not that impressed with hotel. Sure the rock n rock stuff is cool but that is it. Bar was not cozy to family and restaurant attached to hotel was very expensive. The room was reticuliously small for the price.

HAPPY & DISAPPOINTED

The hotel spot pretty fantastic.... in the middle of down town. nice viewing, closed with shopping mall. close with sears tower (the famous building). when you there, you must visit it. Sears tower have 110 levels, really pretty you take a look all the city through the highest place.

Not a lively atmosphere

Expected this Hard Rock to have a sports bar, or lounge with entertainment. A very quiet little bar set off from the small lobby was not what I expected. Nothing like Fort Lauderdale Hard Rock Hotel where there is lots of action (multiple bars, restaurants, and a casino).

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Car rental was a bargain but $46 a night to park the car was outrageous. Don't rent a car. Short walks to many downtown places will suffice or take a taxi or bus. Lots of shopping, restaurants and even the Navy Pier is within walking distance.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly.

The only good thing about my stay was the location to my business conference. The carpet was nasty and dirty; not to mention soaking wet outside the bathroom. I was not allowed to move to a different room. Also; having to pay additionally for internet service I thought was outrageous; considering the price per night paid for the room. I would not recommend this hotel.

The OK

The Hotel room was different. Very Dark, and the lights did not brighten up the room, they were very dim. The bathroom was nice. The carpet was old and is time to be replaced.? This hotel wasn't that great. You can stay at a lot nicer places than this for the same money.
