Roaring 1920s meets the rockin' present
Towering 40 floors above the Magnificent Mile, the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago was an institution long before celebrity guests like Dave Navarro passed through its black polished granite and terra cotta walls. The Carbide & Carbon Building earned landmark status in 1996 for its designóa champagne bottle with gold-foil top bubbling over the Windy City. Today, the property takes on rocker appeal and remains a popular place to stay. Room walls are covered with rock-n-roll memorabilia and hip room decor to keep the party going all night long.
Highlights
  • On the Magnificent Mile, near Millennium Park and Grant Park
  • China Grill Restaurant
  • 10 free iTunes downloads
  • Gibson Guitar rentals
  • Staffed business center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rooms
Rooms and suites at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago merge the subtle with the bold, like taupe walls accented by Tigerwood furniture and white linens dressed with colorful pillows. Interesting

It was my son's birthday-the front desk was great and provided a complimentary guitar rental and popcorn. When iwas in the lounge gum got stuck on my pants and the bartender gave me my drinks on the house.THE room was dark, small, and the room next door had guests that could NOT have been louder if they tried. When I complained the next morning, I was told nothing could be done because I had prepaid and I should have said something during the night- I really didn't want to move all of my belongings in the middle of the night once my 10 year old FINALLY fell asleep???? Great bray perks from desk for son. Rooms are not impressive, paper thin walls.

Pretty Good

My husband and I just came for a weekend to have fun in the city and I got a great deal on a delux King room at the Hard Rock. Check in was very fast and easy and the valet parking was only a few dollars more than the self park lot around the corner, so that was convenient. The room was nice and clean, although we were missing a room service menu and our tv remote didn't work, but they quickly brought us both when I called down to the front desk. The bathroom was sparkling clean, but the water pressure in the shower was terrible, which was a little frustrating since I couldn't wash all the conditioner out of my hair! They have a 24-hour in room dining with a late night menu that had a delicious but severely overpriced vegetarian chili. We called down at about 1am to order and after several times with no answer called down to the front desk, still with no answer. After the 3rd or 4th time, we finally did get an answer and they quickly had room service call me back to place my order. About an hour later we went down to the bar, Angels and Kings and saw all the front desk people playing pool and drinking, which I'm assuming is why they didn't answer the phone right away. So that was a little annoying. Besides everything be ridiculously overpriced ($12 for a long island iced tea at the bar??!!), it was still an overall pleasant hotel experience.

Hard Rock Hotel

We stayed downtown Chicago to do some shopping and eat a nice meal. The floor we stayed on (Kiss) was awfully dark. The carpet in the room was very dirty. The bed and pillows were not all that comfortable. Noise from down below (sirens) could be heard quite easily from the 20th floor.

great break from work and the family

I needed to recharge my mind, body, and soul and found myself on [...] to find a reasonably priced hotel in Chicago to "escape" to for an evening. I chose the Hard Rock Hotel because the rooms looked swanky and the beds looks comfy. Upon check in, they were happy to change my room from a king bed to 2 queens, no problem. I had no plans but to rest and relax within the 4 walls of my room with a good friend. There was a big picture of Bob Dylan in the room that I covered with a towel because his expression was a bit creepy... and they only had 1 pod of coffee (1 decaf, and 1 tea) next to their Kurig machine (which I was excited to see when I walked in) - it would have been nice to have more than one cup of coffee, or for each of us to have at least 1 cup. Overall, I loved the "rock" feel of the hotel and the simple layout when you walk into the door.
