Roaring 1920s meets the rockin' present
Towering 40 floors above the Magnificent Mile, the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago was an institution long before celebrity guests like Dave Navarro passed through its black polished granite and terra cotta walls. The Carbide & Carbon Building earned landmark status in 1996 for its designóa champagne bottle with gold-foil top bubbling over the Windy City. Today, the property takes on rocker appeal and remains a popular place to stay. Room walls are covered with rock-n-roll memorabilia and hip room decor to keep the party going all night long.
Highlights
  • On the Magnificent Mile, near Millennium Park and Grant Park
  • China Grill Restaurant
  • 10 free iTunes downloads
  • Gibson Guitar rentals
  • Staffed business center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rooms

Great view

It was a good time. They were delayed a bit in giving us our room but they upgraded us and gave us complimentary breakfast. What I liked most was the location. It was downtown close to the Navy pier and the riverwalk.

The hard rock Chicago

Not very good. Parking was $46.00 per day. No pool ,no gym, no spa. The did not give you much for $200 a night.

Great location, comfy rooms

Stayed 2 nights for Neocon. Great location. Clean stylish rooms, comfy beds. The room was a little noisy since we were near the elevator lobby and could hear the occasional siren. We requested a fan (which was provided) and slept like a dream! I didnt know that it was an option. Now I will always request one.

Great Service Nice Hotel

[...] My wife and I and some friends we came to Chicago to run the Shamrock Shuffle Race. hotel cost was 220 per night per room that seemed very fair for Michigan Ave. Check in was seemless we arrieved @ 1:00 in the afternoon they had our room available right then check in was 3pm We had our car valeted no problems at the curb. We had a cocktail at the China Grill great Sushi and service. The race started by Grant Park so it was an easy walk to the race we asked to a late check out no problem when we arrived back at the Hotel and were greeted asked about our race experience. We will return.

Easy going at Hard Rock

This was our second stay at Hard Rock primarily because of it's great location on Michigan Avenue. While the first visit was just after the snowstorm of the century, I found this second visit much nicer. At the first visit, they were short staffed and the sheets were like sandpaper. I decided to give it a second try (because of location) and our stay was great. We had a fabulous view on the "Jimi Hendrix" floor. Staff was extremely attentive and quick to reply to our needs. The beds were very comfy and sheets soft. It's an unusual hotel with a dark, gray interior and black doors. The only issue I would have is the lighting in the bathroom. Rather dim. I think it's in need of a remodel, since it's hanging on to the rather passe 70s rock 'n roll decor. Overall, I'd recommend it though, because of the attentive service and the convenient location. Staff at the hotel was great.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

If you like to walk, you're fine, but don't be afraid to hop in a taxi. For $4 you can get a lift to the high end shopping district and won't be frozen or tired out from the long walk. There's a Walgreens across the street, so don't forget to stock up on snacks or drinks for the room. Bought a Kit Kat bar and a can of soda from the mini bar because it was late at night and very cold outside. Cost: $8.
