not worth the money

The views were very beautiful at this resort, the room was nice, nothing out of ordinary. What we didn't like about this hotel is they charge $300+ a night (depending on your room), but they act a as cheap hotel. You want WIFI, it's extra. You want to park a car, it's extra. You want seat by the pool in a comfy chair, it's extra. Basically everything besides the room is extra. They give you an "activity passport" and tell you to use it for discounts at their hotel, but none of the services (bar, restaurant, etc) accept it, event though they should've. You feel stupid presenting that thing. Why give it to people at all? Why not add extra $30-50 to the cost of the room and include some of those things?

Top Notch Leisure

Wailea Marriott is always our preferred hotel during our visits to Maui. The staff and site are top notch, making us anxious for the next year's visit. This Marriott has taken the Maui experience to a whole different level--the beautiful vistas, walking path, restaurants, and rooms.

Be careful on room location

My wife grew up on Maui and we frequently visit the island. Because of the large group attending a family wedding we stayed at a hotel close to the beach location for the event. The hotel has some nice features, but rooms located next to the main entrance on (not beach side view) are subject to the loud noises of the night including a cleaning machines running between 3am and 4am. Even with windows shut and the AC fan on the noise was very disturbing. After 3 nights of restless sleep we asked to be moved. We did not receive a new room until the last two days of our trip which did help. You also have to pay a resort fee of 30.00 per day to use any of the hotel resources so factor that into your room cost. Other relatives stayed a bit further down in South Kihea on the beach with an equivalent room quality for half the price.

If you enjoy sushi try Sansei located in Kihea. Early bird special has half price sushi. Arrive early and wait in line as the locals frequent this event.

towel trouble

Beautiful hotel, view and setting. The wait staff @ the pool were all terrific especially Terry. However the room lacked adequate bath towels and toiletries were only restocked upon request . The activity staff directed us toward wonderful excursions. The resort fee is an unnecessary add-on @ $30.00 per night and really left a sour taste in my mouth and the reason I felt this was not a good value. By adding that on in addition to room tax, it prevents one from fairly comparing prices on the internet... The restaurant was good and the bar was fine. There is a short walk to the beach. Parking was convenient.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Shops at Wailea are a short walk from the hotel. A lot of good restaurants to choose from without the high prices that are typical of Hawaii. Breakfast at Cheeseburger Island Style was great and cheap. Fish tacos at Tommy Bahamas were the best I had on the trip.

Maui Marriott

Beautiful location, beautiful property. We love this resort, but it is far from Lahaina and Kaanapali area. Not a big deal, if you don't mind the 45 minute drive.

Nice property, not the greatest value

We had a very nice stay at the Wailea Beach Marriott. The property is situated on a beautiful part of the island. One thing that we did not understand is the mandatory $30/day resort fee. Why not just roll it into the rate? In addition to the resort fee, the hotel charges for Internet access, which seemed excessive. The Starbucks on the property offers free Internet for a few hours per day, so that's a way to get around the extra charge.

The Starbucks on the property offers free Internet for a few hours per day, so if you don't mind a short walk and working on your computer in public, then this is a way to save a little cash.
