Exclusive Wailea Beach resort with beachfront fantasy pool playground
Set on 40 acres of exclusive Wailea beachfront, the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is one of the Gold Coast’s most exquisite resorts. The property is built around exotic oceanview fantasy pools, including a nearly 26,000-square-foot series of nine pools connected by a river and landscaped with bridges, jungle, slides, swing ropes, the world’s first water elevator, sand beach, waterfalls, caves and a swim-up bar. Experience a dream wedding -- or vow renewal -- at the resort chapel, which looks out onto Wailea Beach and distant islands.Highlights
- Rejuvenate at Spa Grande
- Adults-only pool and nearly 26,000-square-foot pool featuring nine areas connected by a river
- Camp Grande, an activity center with a movie theater, games, wading pool, crafts and other adventures for kids
Location
The 22-acre Grand Wailea fronts the famed Wailea Beach, where the distant islands of Lanai, uninhabited Kahoolawe and little Molokini create a picture-perfect setting. The upscale Gold Coast community of Wailea itself is surrounded by golf courses, fine restaurants and shops, all within a short distance from the resort.Rooms
Luxury begins here with oversized guest rooms averaging 640 square feet and views of Mt. Haleakala, gardens and the ocean. Each offers a private balcony, 24-hour, in-room dining, high-speed Internet access (fees apply) and feather duvet/pillows. Other accommodations include the exclusive Napua Tower, a private hotel within the resort; suites up to 5,500 square feet; and the Villas at Hoolei, three-bedroom villas for vacationing or residence.Dining
Guests begin the day at the Grand Dining Room, with panoramic views of the resort’s reflecting pool, the ocean and distant islands. Other great choices on-property include the romantic Humu, serving fresh lobster from the resort lagoon; the relaxing, open-air Bistro Molokini; and the fun poolside Volcano Bar.Recreation

Grand Wailea in Maui
This hotel is great whether you have kids or not. The activity pool is a lot of fun and relaxing at the same time plus it's steps away from the beach where every set of chairs has an oversized umbrella. Rooms are spacious and clean. You should know that the restaurants close by 9 and only one is open on Sunday and Monday evenings. There is a very nice outdoor mall next door that has late night evening. We will definity come back to stay here next time we come to Maui

next time i'll do things differently...
First impression...pretty awe inspiring. However, that sensation was short lived because upon checking in we were told there would be another $300 worth of resort fees and valet fees due at the end of the trip no matter what we did. As a smoker (which we are more aware than ever is evil and dirty) we felt completely persecuted for the entirety of our trip. My personal opinion: if I spend 5 G's on a hotel room, I should be able to smoke whereverthehell I want. Next time we're staying at a shack in Kehei and spending the extra loot on dinners and surfing lessons.

The Grand is still pretty grand
We have stayed at this hotel 4 times now and every time it's seriously a good experience. This is our 6th time on Maui and we have also stayed at the Westin and at the now defunct Maui Prince (known as the Makena Golf resort). The Grand is really an awesome resort to drive into and pretty much instantly relaxes you with it's vibe and spacious entryway. We did arrive a bit early and our room was not quite ready so we headed to the Molokini Bistro for some food. Previous years taught us that the food there was pretty solid. We used to eat lunch there regularly. This year was different. The food at the bistro has significantly dropped in quality. Things were over drenched in sauces and greasy. The crabcakes were still cold on the inside and seemed like they had just been warmed in the microwave for a minute. We have had better there for sure. We only ate there one more time while were were in Maui for 7 days. Two of the other lunches were had at Tommy Bahamas next door in the Shops at Wailea. The fish tacos there are plenty to share with 2 and they are excellent. The plantains in the cream are amazing and the service there is excellent. [...] was our waiter and our glasses never reached empty the entire time. Our room was comfortable and the beds there are excellent. The bathroom had a bit of hair in it and unfortunately the toilet had a small leak. Luckily housekeeping and maintenance came and took care of that no problem.Their soap and sundries have always smelled so fantastic. However, their new bottles are not as stylish as the old square designs. The old designs are much more refined and upscale versus the new design. Such a minor point but it was an interesting choice. The usual things you think you will be over charged for (renting gear by the beach, food, etc) are just that but we didn't really care. It made our lives easier not having to deal with snorkel gear returns or what not and that's part of what a vacation is supposed to be about. We had a package that got us a free buffet breakfast every morning and wow that was fantastic. I do like the choice of buffet there and we ate well every day. The hotel seemed understaffed at this area and we had to wait each day for our server to come over and take a coffee order or bus our plates, etc. This is also unlike previous years where the service has been very punctual and the guest waits for nearly nothing. Our package gave us $175 credit at the spa and my wife used that to get herself pampered for a few hours. She came back very relaxed and said the spa and staff there were both sensational. We ate at Humuhumunukunukuapua'a one night and remembered that the food there used to be just so-so. Things have changed for the better let me tell you. All the food we had was so good we went back a second time and were also not let down then. We were informed by our waiter ([...]) that they had taken guest feedback into consideration and improved the menu and food and well, it worked on us. Humu has a good vibe and I can certainly recommend the food and drinks over there. Between the fish, steaks, pork, and deserts we loved it all.Good thing about the location is that you're next door to the four seasons and can enjoy their choice of restaurants. Duo has really excellent food and the service was as solid as you would expect from a resort of this nature. We do love this resort and will go back again as soon as we can. The resort is most certainly part of the reason we find Maui such a relaxing place to recharge our batteries each year.

Get to the Blue Water Rafting snorkeling the south end of Maui. It's amazing over there. Captains [...] and [...] were funny and knowledgeable. It was truly an excellent time and you get to see things that you cannot see on your own.

The best vacation ever
It was an inchanting experience in paradise. The absolute best hotel experience we've ever had. The grounds are gorgeous and impecably kept. The views are breathtaking. The staff are extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. The restaurants were all well managed, although very pricey. Would definitely stay there again.

Maui Magic
This was our 3rd trip in 2 yrs. to the Grand Wailea. It is always a pure pleasure to stay at this hotel. We have visited Maui often during the past 26 yrs. and the Grand Wailea is THE BEST!! Restaurants on premises are excellent, all staff are welcoming and very pleasant. [...] at the front desk is especially nice and is always "all smiles." Whenever we left, the baggage handler reminded us of any personal items and looked in every drawer and under the bed himself. He waited patiently while my husband brought the car and warmly wished us a return visit. The beach services, pool services and all staff are top quality. The children's entertainment, slides, poolside crafts etc seemed to provide amply for little ones.Room maid services are simply excellent. The only improvement would be to really scrub the grout in the showers and launder the "throw" rug in the bathroom. Otherwise, it was spotless. We love the flowers, the chapel and total ambience of this hotel. The views are simply beautiful. Highy recommend. Love the Wailea shops nearby.

We were on our Honeymoon. And everything was so beautiful. There was a resort fee but i come to expect that in alot of hotels now. This hotel caters from honeymoons to family trips. I loved every minute of it. and of course it's on Maui. Loved it!
