The best deal on the Big Island without a doubt.

I did a ton of reasearch trying to find the right place to stay while on the Big Island. After looking at the reviews, I went for Paniolo. I was right to believe the great reviews. I will say that this was one of the best deals on a single room that I have ever received. First of all, the room was a fully equipped condo. It had all of the things that you would expect from a great apartment. It was perfectly clean with a view of a nice golf course. The furnishings are from about 10 years ago, but who cares because it was all clean. As everybody knows, Hawaii has very expensive food. There was a nice grocery store within walking distance. With a fully equipped kitchen, cooking was very easy and made it so we didn't have to spend as much as most people would. The location is about 10 miles away from the beach. This is the only reason why it is less expensive than some. It's in a very quiet villiage. In Hawaii, most all beaches are public, so it's not a big concern to be away from the beach.. The concierge gave me great advice about where to go and what to do and was helpful at all times. They can set you up for anything that you could possibly want to do. The staff was always courteous and friendly. Without going into too much detail, the rate was amazing. I was there six days. I saved hundreds of dollars and saved even more by cooking my own meals. I would recommend this property to anybody.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a small market close by. It's a little expensive, but when you realize how expensive food is on the island, you won't regret it.

Nice, quiet, clean

Comes with a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, stove, toaster, coffee maker, some pots and pans, etc.). Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, the carpet was a little older, also comes with 1 parking spot. The location is OK, 30 miles to Kona, 60 miles to Hilo. You have a gas station and grocery store close by. The view from the balcony out West onto the ocean could have been awesome but unfortunately a huge palm tree was in the way....can't win 'em all. Overall a great value.

Don't miss looking at the stars. Go to Mauna Kea visitor center at night or Mauna Loa weather station. You've never seen anything like it. While overcast a the hotel, those places are above the clouds.

Value Property

We picked Paniolo Greens Resort based on the value and comments from others. However the value came with several sacrifices. It is a condo/apartment complex community you share with other residences. The walls are so thin you hear EVERYTHING. We tried ear plugs and it was still very loud. It was really difficult to sleep due to the noise. Also you have to be prepared for no cleaning services. At one point we needed to request a vacuum from leaves blowing in. It was tracking everywhere. Lastly the location is far from many attractions, too far. In the end the value was not worth the distance, lack of cleaning service and the noise, noise, noise.

great for someone who golfs.

it is very out of the way and about 25 miles from inexpensive restaurants. also if you expect to get any mail here be ready to fight for it. I would go to the office and they would tell me there was no mail and I would insist so they would send someone over to check and it would be there. this happened on 4 seperate days.

Impressive couples retreat

What a beautiful resort! The rooms are pretty much condominiums. We rented the one bedroom which had the second bedroom and second bathroom locked. The kitchen was fully equipped and yes they do have a rice pot (for all you locals). The living room was fully furnished. Super comfy couches. I seriously wanted to move in. They do offer free wifi which is decent enough to browse the web. I wouldn't recommend streaming through Netflix since it didn't seem fast enough for it. They charge about $6 a day for a/c but this was included in the package I purchased. Comfortable bed and awesome pillows in the master bedroom. There was one hdtv in the living room and a tube tv in the bedroom. I've heard that some rooms have all hdtv's so I guess it just varies. We had a view of the gorgeous golf course. Wild turkeys roam free which were pretty awesome to watch. They didn't make much noise if at all, so I don't know what some other people are talking about. Overall excellent resort and will definitely stay there again. Only downside is the location. Upper elevation, so weather was cloudy/rainy through most of our stay. Maybe it was just the season though. Beaches are not too far in my opinion. Of course driving distance. Well that's about it. Definitely check it out if your not worried about the location. Way better than any hotel I've ever stayed in and you definitely cannot beat the price!! :)

Hasta la Vista!

The front desk staff was very professional & accomodating!!! The location of our room was conveniently located close to the pool facility & the rest of the recreation area which our family used daily. The unit had the ammenities we needed to cook all our meals. Like a home away from home. We enjoyed our stay & we'll be back!

Nice place off of the beaten path

Nice, clean and well equipped condo unit that is a little off of the beaten path. Very quite and nice grounds around the units. About a 10 minute drive to the several nice beaches and shopping.

Paniolo Greens

We had a great stay. The Kona side of the island was a great place to stay. .my only disappointment with the hotel was the internet access. It was very iffy. When checking out I mentioned it and was told they will soon be upgrading their system so the problem is in the process of being fixed. I would stay here again. The value, the location and the weather were perfect.
