Holiday Trip

Our 1st trip to the Big Island and loved the Wiakoloa Hilton. Lots to do- pools, SUP, their own salt water lagoon, and restaurants. It is a very large resort so you do a lot of walking to get to places or you can take the tram or a boat ride. Paying to park everyday was a little steep @ $25/day but location was prime! We would come back again.

Relaxing family vacation

We were traveling with a 4 year old and looking for a relaxing vacation, and Hilton Waikoloa Village provided just that! We stayed for 4 nights and was wowed by the 62 acre beautiful property, lush gardens, kiddie beach and pools, Asian artifacts and tram and boat options just to navigate the property. The memorable points: - big island breakfast on water's edge - walk by the museum - dolphin quest show on site which was fun for the kid! Not so memorable points: - Having stayed at other Hiltons, I can say that our Palace tower room was not at a 4 star level. The room was clean but small and it took 45 mins for the luggage to show up or be picked up from the room! Maybe the lagoon or ocean tower would have newer and better rooms? - the Hilton is 45 mins away from town. So would need a taxi or rent a car

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you walk 15 to 20 mins along the shoreline from the lagoon tower, you will come across a beautiful sand beach (sometimes inhabited by turtles basking in the sun)! Be sure to watch the sunset on the walk back!

Great place for kids and familly

The hotel is great and has lots of wonderful amenities. The restaurants are a little over priced and the lack of a beach keeps this from being a top hotel.

The monorail was really too much

I expected a normal hotel on the ocean, for just one night not far from the airport. I didn't read carefully, but it's a monstrosity theme park type place that removes you from even being on the island and makes you wait for trains... which is exactly what I was trying to get away from on vacation.

Stress relief

Everything was wonderful. The views, things to do on site The food on site however, was more expensive than it should have been compared to the quality of the food . We ate at the pizza place for our first dinner. While the crust was good, and the view was amazing, it was your typical Pizza Hut. We also had the buffet breakfast overlooking the saltwater lagoon. $60 for two (which included discount), way over priced for a Denny's meal. The only complaints I have are in regards to the saltwater lagoon. Though I am not a marine biologist, in my opinion the Dolphin Lagoon was way too small for 7 dolphin's and kids under 12 should have to be accompanied by an adult while in the water.
