Great place to just relax
This resort is in a fantastic location and I couldn't ask for any better service from the staff. The pools are great, and their luau was pretty spectacular. The resort restaurants leave a lot to be desired (other than KPC, which we did not visit due to the extreme prices). You can find more reasonable food prices if you have a rental car and can leave the resort. The rooms and bathrooms can definitely use some updating, but I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, including families.

Nice Resort
Nice resort with lots of amenities. Stayed at the Lagoon towers which was close proximity to everything (eg, Dophin Quest, beautiful pool, main entrance).

Mixed reviews
Resort is huge. You want to stay at the Lagoon Towers which is nice. We met other guests who stayed at the Ocean towers. They say these are older properties. When we walked by, we did notice it does need updating.

Beautiful Hawaii, not so beautiful prices
Hawaii is beautifu and overall I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was beautiful, landscaping immaculate, room clean ( my view stunk & unable to change rooms until after I was unpacked the next day). My disappointment was value. Everything was expensive. There was a $ 25.00 per day charge for access to internet, movies/pS3 games and discounts on rental equipment, everything else was an extra fee, including self-park. Very expensive to do anything at this resort. I'll rethink staying at this resort again.

Short walk from hotel
Rent a car and eat else where. Shop in Kona. Rent your own car so you can see the attractions you want at your time and pace.

Supreme Ocean View
We stayed in the ocean tower where we had a superior 180 degree ocean view. The room was well appointed, clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful at every interaction. Food was good, not great and overpriced. Dinner at Imiri was our best. The luau was less than spectacular, though. Trams were consistent and convenient. Skip the boats which are unpredictable and slow.

Spectacular vacation
When I chose this motel online it didn't look like anything out of the ordianry, but when we got there it was spectacular! It's a resort, not a motel! The resort has multiple pools, a tram and a boat for transporting you to and from your room location and many beautiful trails to enjoy. The room was nothing out of the ordinary though. The bathroom is very small. They do have dining, paddleboats and diving and other activities available at the resort but it's VERY expensive.

Short drive from hotel
Don't eat at the resort. It's VERY expensive. We spent over $90 on a meal for two at the Japanese restaurant at the resort and portions were small. It was good food but not that good! The breakfast buffet at the resort charges $11 for a bowl of oatmeal! Drive a bit north or south and there are many places to eat.

Nice landscape. Room not so much
The room had a mildew smell to it and was in need of being updated. The landscape was beautiful however the tram was a pain to wait for. 10-15 minutes if you missed it

Wonderful Vacation
My boyfriend and I stayed at Waikaloa Village for a week in April. We had a wonderful time at the resort. During our stay we embarked on the dolphin quest, zip lining, snorkeling, and of course the luau on the property. The dolphins were expensive but a dream come true, an amazing experience. Zip lining took us to the other side of the island that was a thrilling adventure in itself. Snorkeling was conveniently accessible in the resort, along with the luau (with excellent waitresses and the extra expense of the open bar)! The room was clean with a great view. The staff was friendly, especially the bartenders who recommended local spots. We would love to go back, a great first vacation together.

Great for families with kids
It was relaxing, good food, great shops and lots of things to do. Snorkling in the Lagoon, swimming with the Dolphins, 2 pools, one with smaller slides for little kids, the other one with a big slide, waterfalls and hot tubs. Great for taking walks around the Hotel grounds, the beach and golf course. We have family close by and they can use all the facilities that the Hotel offers.
