Condo resort has free-form pools, tennis and ocean-to-mountain views
Wyndham Bali Hai Villas has plenty for guests to do right outside their condo doors, but area attractions are conveniently nearby. In addition to two pools and a tennis court, the resort has "Get Out & Play" activities on and off property -- hula and ukulele classes, luaus, scuba or sailing excursions and golf scrambles, among others. The cliff-top one- and two-bedroom condos were built in 2005. Granite kitchen countertops and other upscale touches complement the breezy island ambiance. Beach lovers are just two miles from romantic Hanalei Bay.Highlights
- Princeville location
- Two pools, one pool for children
- "Get Out & Play" activities
- Walking distance to golf
Location
Princeville Resort sits atop fluted cliffs that dominate the rugged north coast. Much of the landscape around Wyndham Bali Hai Villas has a wildness to it, with some areas reachable only by remote trail or boat. Yet Princeville is refined, home to championship golf courses and upscale hotels. Down the road, funky, laid-back Hanalei Town adds its charm with eclectic galleries and restaurants and sublime beaches.Rooms
The one- and two-bedroom condos at Wyndham Bali Hai Villas were built in 2005, combining island ambiance with contemporary touches. Ranging from 871 to 1,149 square feet, each condo has a washer/dryer, whirlpool tub, sleeper sofa and balcony. Kitchens are equipped with everything to make vacation living easy, from microwaves and toasters to blenders and four-burner stoves. There is no need for air conditioning thanks to ceiling fans and north shore breezes.Features
Sweeping views from the cliffs of Wyndham Bali Hai Villas take in Hanalei Valley and the coastline from Kilauea Crater to Mount Makana, famous as bewitching Bali Hai in the film "South Pacific." The front desk is staffed 24/7 and a concierge assists guests with tour and restaurant options. Wyndham Bali Hai Villas is a great choice for golfers -- Woods Nine golf course is walking distance and the Ocean Nine and Princeville Makai courses are a short drive. "Get Out & Play" activities include something for everyone (fees may apply).Transportation

Very spacious condos
We had a great time here. Only two things could make it better, ocean view and AC, but it was very nice.

Beautiful Property & Convenient North Shore Locatoin
Gorgeous landscaping, easy access to main road in Princeville; lots of walking trails nearby, near beautiful Anini Beach which has a natural reef so great for swimming and watching turtles. Very friendly staff - lots of room in 2 bdr condo Gentle Trade winds cooled the rooms. Huge soaker tub. Large kitchen - we cooked all meals easily.

The property is under construction.....no one mentioned that or was it advertised in the solicitation. The "clubhouse" which includes the proposed gym (non existant at present) won't be finished being built until February 2014. Yes, 2014 ! They have a check in facility where they also do all of their timeshare solicitation and demonstrations for Wyndam. It is "NOT" a clubhouse... but you can rent a dvd movie there....no restaurant; no vending machines.... The property has 2 story villas... DO NOT Get a downstairs unit...the noise from upstairs is very clear due to no insulation between units.. There is NO insulation between the floors and the operators on the phone tell me they get complaints constantly from the downstairs units. Security won't even tell them to "walk lightly" until after 10 pm to 6 am...if you are a late sleeper...forget that.... the feet upstairs sound like a drum roll all day long...Management would "not" move my room when I asked to be moved; saying too many owners were in and no 2nd floor rooms were available. Today, the third day; after no sleep for two nights; the upstairs people checked out. I finally got a hold of a manager who was nice; and agreed to hold the room upstairs and not rent it for my last two nights here. The booking agent said they'd refund me twonights stay at less than what I paid; but we'll see if that comes through.... I hope so,or they'll lose me as a customer. I am upset because no disclosure of the lack of amenities and the noisey downstairs units; there being "no" clubhouse or onsite activities...the receptionist did not tell me there was a second pool and jacuzzi open until this morning...,I was told there was none... but I did not get what I paid for... I thought there was a clubhouse; a gym; a restaurant; a pool and a jacuzzi... I got noise, construction; and a frustrating two nights of no sleep here at Bali Hai. I am a Realtor in Hawaii; and I will not recommend this resort until after February of 2014. Hoopefully this will get printed to help you, other consumers not experience such disappointment,. Mahalo,

I'll go there again
The villa was clean with a beautiful waterfall right outside my bedroom window. The staff was helpful making arrangements for our touring pleasure and setting us up with the Smith Luau-show and food. kitchen was complete with grocery store within 5 minutes to gather those foods to grill or cook. No litter anywhere on the grounds. Only drawback was there is limited lighting going into the resort but once in Bali Hai there is light galore-tough if you get there after dark. You need to be on the NORTH SHORE this is the place to be,

Honeymoon
There was a constant breeze and no need for AC. We needed more closet or dresser space. The villa was very clean and housekeeping gave us fresh towels and took out the garbage during the week. We didn't realize we were booked in a time-share. Princeville was a bit out of the way of the other activities we had planned. We needed to plan for 60-90 minutes of travel time. The foodland grocery store is a crowded nightmare in the evenings. I was very pleased with the kitchen and back patio.

Nice 1 bdrm condo
The condo was nicely laid out and easily accommodated us. It was clean, and had an adequate amount of kitchen and cooking utensils, nice fluffy bath and beach towels. However, the sofa bed was a sleep killer and back breaker. I advise asking for a roll-away. The staff was very nice and the swimming pools were delightful. There was no view in our unit, but we enjoyed eating outside on our lanai. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay.

Cali Family Guy
Family of Four, Last minute trip, Decent Enough.
First, Bali Hai VR is a timeshare property. I did not know this when I booked it, but it did not become an issue since I armed myself with a little bit of info before getting on the plane. I made our reservations online (not through Wyndham) and became very concerned when our reservation was not found by the clerk at check-in. She sent me to the car to get my paperwork (luckily I printed it). When I returned I got the feeling that sending me to the car was a stalling tatic while she figured out what to do with us. Note; she was very poilite the whole time, but was not making eye contact and was acting very confused during my check-in. Finally she said "oh, you are not an owner. You rented this online". I confirmed and suddenly everyting was ok. I had to put a $150 cleaning deposit on my c/c and she gave me our room card/keys and a map to our room. As I started to walk away she said "oh, you need to see the other desk for your parking permit". I thought "oh boy, here it comes". I went to the other desk and was given a brief questioning and ultimatly left with my parking pass. The whole check-in took about 20 minutes, so not too bad. Again, armed with info beforehand, I walked into our two bedroom condo and unplugged the phones. I had read to many comments (on other websites) about visitors getting multiple calls to come to a "free tour and demonstration". We used the condo as our home base for five nights and it worked well. This was my wife and I's second visit to Kauai, but the first for our kids (15 & 10). With the phone unplugged and staying away during the main part of the days, we were never harassed into getting a pitch to buy shares (or whatever they are calling them now). Before leaving the mainland I told my faimly we were going on this trip with a "roll with it" attitude about everything. The only time we had to apply my roll-with-it rule at the condo was when we could here other residents. The walls and ceiling must be pretty thin construction (we were downstairs). In the evening you can here adjacent neighbors talking, walking, and showering (one night untill 2am). My suggestion to the Bali Hai manager would be to add an evening foot patrol to enforce the 10pm quiet time rule. Being awakened at 2am by nieghbors having a fiesta on their lanai is no way to attract anyone over the age of 25 (or families) to return. We had a great trip: Snorkling, shopping, sight-seeing, horseback riding, girls getting a pedi in Hanalei. Our best meal was either Brennekee's (sp?) in Poipu, or sushi at the Dolphin in Hanalei (right as you enter town). All-in-all we had a great trip. Our kids got their first taste of Aloha, and we had some good family time together. Last note: I booked this trip on a Tuesday evening in Cali and we flew out 6am that Sat morning. Decent deal and thing could have been much worse! ~Aloha~

Exceeded our expectations from the moment we pulled into the drive. Staff very friendly and helpful. Always someone around, even outside, to help you. Clean unit and amazingly comfortable even though there isn't air conditioning, always a breeze! After seeing other areas on the island, we were very glad we made our reservations here!!

Don't waste your time or money trying Bubba Burgers, drive south on 56 to Ono Char Burgers connected to the general store on the left side of the road. Excellent burgers if that's what you're in the mood for!! And Paco's Tacos has great fish tacos, located on the same stretch of highway.

Roomy interior, but thin walls.
Bad: People above can be heard walking around. Neighbor smoked on his patio which smelled up our whole unit. Unit (#210) was next to clubhouse, so, employees took their phone breaks right next to our windows. Front desk people very short over phone. Good: Spacious 2 bdrm with fully equipped kitchen with ice maker, cookware, dishwasher and washer/dryer.Decent mini home stereo

spacious and clean, but lacks character
we stayed at this accommodation for two nights before we went to stay at our final house on Hanalei Bay. It depends on what you are looking for, but to me this place lacked character big time, it's one of those typical timeshare places built on a golf course setting, which could be anywhere on this planet, I didn't have the feeling we were on Kaua'i at all... (except for the great weather) The first morning we were invited for a continental welcome breakfast, where we could also pick up our parking pass. This turned out to be a shrewd way to lure us into buying excursions, and the even tried to talk us into attending a timeshare presentation. Not the thing you expect when you just paid almost 600 dollars for a two night stay, this to me was a major turnoff... The other turnoff was that one of the toilets in the apartment kept spewing other peoples feces, and made the one bedroom smell really bad, not to mention the fact that it made me almost throw up twice ;) But i'm sure this must have been an incidental thing. On the positive side, it is a very spacious apartment, with a great kitchen full of good kitchen supplies. also a nice patio for a dinner outside, and a jacuzzi in the master bathroom. >> If you are looking for a spacious apartment with total lack of character that could be anywhere on this planet, this could be the place for you! But then again i'm more a person that loves authenticity and history...

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
There is a Supermarket called Foodland on site (5 minute drive), although it has a great selection it was also the most expensive supermarket I have ever been to. If you want to save some bucks, drive to the Ching Young Village Shopping Center in Hanalei, where there's a BIG SAVE Supermarket, where most of the stuff is half the price of Foodland (Although the selection is quite a bit smaller)
