We've stayed here each Spring for 4 years in a row

We love this hotel. Valet parking gave us a complimentary free day when we checked in, so we watched them unload our bags, give us a check and then walked to the counter, where we got our favorite room on the north side of the hotel. The Marriott was the first hotel built on this bay, so it has the best view. The maids are all friendly and efficient--if they come to clean your room and you're not ready for them, you just tell them when to come back.

For 3-5PM Happy Hour, don't forget to go to Longhis in the "Shops at Maui" next door. They have the best Happy Hour, and their waiters are funny and friendly.

No sandy beach hotel

This Marriott was located next to the Shops at Wailea mall. You don't need to drive to shops and restaurants which was convenient. However the big down side was there was no sandy beach for this hotel. There was rocky beach behind the hotel so in order for us to enjoy waves we had to walk the beach next door. No sandy beach means no beach chairs for Marriott guests. You need to rent beach chairs and umbrella on your own which cost money. We took a paddle board lesson and we had to carry a big board to the beach next door, about 50 yards. I could not carry it and my husband had to help me out .

Disappointing room at the Marriott

Th.e arrival to the hotel was disappointing. We had come from another hotel in Oahu which was excellent. We arrive prior to check in and had to wait for our room to be cleaned. We had been told we would receive a premium room. When we went to the room, it was an average Marriott room with an ocean view, but overlooking a parking lot. The concierge was less than helpful with suggestions. Our first night was disappointing. However our last day, the staff was very accommodating and provided great service until we left for the airport in the evening. Due to the first day however, I cannot say this is a four star location and would not recommend it.

Good experience at Marriott Wailea

I had an premier ocean view room with very good view of ocean. Resort was clean and good. Mattress need an update. Resort is spread around and its confusing moving between the buildings. More signs would be helpful. But overall a good experience.

Pleasant Surprise

This was our second vacation in Maui; on our first trip we rented a home, on this past trip we stayed at the Wilea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa and it was a much better experience and overall better vacation. The entire Marriott staff were very friendly, they went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. On our last days stay, we had an 11 pm flight home and a12 o'clock check-out time so the hotel hostess offered us a hospitality room to shower, change our clothes plus access to parking so we could enjoy our day at the beach until we needed to leave to the airport. We will definitely stay at the Marriott again.

Need Upgrade

The hotel staff was great and always willing to help. However, the resort is in desperate need of an upgrade. It does not leave up to the standards of most Marriotts. I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago. A lot has changed since then. The hotel is just not staying with the times. They also need to bring new culinary talent to their restaurants as the food and drinks are just not up to par. It is next to the Shops at Wailea and the Grand Wailea. Location provides good food alternatives.

Waui was Awesome!

We loved the open air facility! From the time we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming- very helpful with our every request. As first timers to Maui, we appreciated the MOD (Frank) who remembered us for the week we were there. AS a pastor & wife, we wanted to visit a place where we could "lay low". We didn't leave the resort often, but loved the stroll to the Shops across the street. My husband wasn't crazy about the tile floors, but that was the only "question" we raised. The ocean view, off of the adult only pool, was perfect for us. We like 5 star treatment and accommodations, and this place ranks among the top. We visited other resorts on the island and ranked this one at the top. We look fwd to coming back really soon!

Entertainment tip: In Hotel

Te Au Moana -the luau is a great experience, a little pricey, but fun! For good ice cream (treats), be sure to walk over to Lampert's? (caramel cashew crunch# and the Whaler's General Store #mocha at the deli counter) in the Shops at Wailea.

Wailea Beach Marriott - tired and worn out

After reading other reviews we expected a recently remodeled and up to date hotel - but don't believe the photos - only the pool areas have been updated, and they are cramped and overcrowded. The pool cabanas in the photos are tiny and $175/day. From the moment the valet greets you it feels like a low-budget experience. No leis, no friendly greeting, and a wait to check in with only one person working the reception desk. Bad food quality and service in the restaurants and around the pool, cheap pool furniture, plastic "towel cards" to get pool towels (really?) - everything was pretty disappointing. We left after one night and were lucky to find a condo next door for lust a little more through vrbo. Marriott needs to knock this down and build something worthy of the location - and worth the price.
