The Royal Lahaina Resort is a family-owned complex of traditional tower hotel rooms and plantation-style beach huts beneath swaying coconut palms. Thanks to the lush 27-acre property size, there's nothing to interfere with views of those mesmerizing ocean waves and neighboring island Molokai, as you snooze in a wicker chair by the sea. Golf enthusiasts have access to two 18-hole championship courses at the Kaanapali Golf Resort, while nature-lovers will be thrilled with many whale-watching opportunities. At night, guests can indulge in Hawaiian history by joining in with a traditional "Myths of Maui" luau, and let the sound of Polynesian drums, the dazzle of colored costumes, and the intense fire knife dance initiate them into island life.

Perfect for a young family

My wife and I decided to take our 20 month old daughter on vacation, but were hesitant for obvious reasons. The Royal Lahaina was a perfect place for us. Small private beach, two pools, luau, whaler's village and a beach walk were all in very close proximity. It was safe and clean, so we could just enjoy our vacation. And luckily we were always awake early enough to enjoy the early bird special for breakfast. Overall a great hotel.

Great vacation

This hotel was great. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Nothing beats the cheap happy hour drinks from the poolside bar!

Royal Lahiana

Great location, right on the beach. Rooms are newly renovated, but maintain that classic Hawaiian feel. Would definitely stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Whaler's Village is a short walk down the beach. Great dining options including one of the better fish tacos on the island at Leilani's.

Can't Beat the location

Obviously you can't beat the location, as far as the hotel goes, it is unbelievably nice, clean, friendly staff, only thing I would change is free WiFi, but when that is your biggest complaint you have a keeper on your hands.

Location!

Beautiful view, beautiful beach, less congested area than most of Lahaina. Deluxe Partial Ocean view is perfect. Heard the Luau each night (fun, 1.5 hours of music). Did not eat at the restaurant - no healthy or organic options available (not unusual for a tourist place) Brought in groceries ((Down to Earth or the Farmers Market shop in Kahana are great options) and saved a bundle on eating out. Peaceful spot, gorgeous beach. Parking is additional $10/day.

Family vacation

We where traveling with two small children this hotel was very family friendly and relaxing. If they did not have something we wanted it was in close walking proximity!

Nothing Royal about this place

I would not recommend this hotel to a friend. First of all, the hotel is really old and it seems there has not been any upgrades to it recently. Secondly, the room was in the same shape, including the bathroom floor and bath tub (disgusting!). Please take my advice and avoid this hotel if possible. Glad I only stayed here a few nights. Quickly changed hotels.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

Whaler's Village is NOT a short 10min walk as the internet has said. Not too much there, either, for shopping purpose. I would go to a larger shopping area, to make it worth your experience.

Quiet location almost private beach Wonderful

We could snorkel right in front and just north a short walk Also the evening dinner hour had a Hawaiian guitar and single dancer accompany in a low volume very relaxing setting. Very low key and romantic. Food was good kahuna salas with mahi. Only thing missing was a bistro setting as all meals were essentially 25 dollars including breakfast if you did not want a small item. Example one half of a papaya was 6dollars alone so go agHead and buy the breakfast buffet for $23. Also if you arrive during the luau use the valet.
