rooms looked old and dirty, font desk people rude, its like they did me a favor
the royal lahaina hotel its located in a nice neirghborhood, but the check in people is very rude like customers are doing them a favor by staying with them and i think it should be the other way around because we the guest are paying a lot of money to have a nice place to stay during our vacations, the rest of the staff was very nice and friendly ( janitors, maids, facilities etc.) the rooms looked dirty and old i even found cockroaches, they did upgrade me but still i think that having roaches its about higiene not about remember you're on a island!!! like the front desk told me, so over all i love maui and i'm coming back but i dont think i will stay at the royal lahaina. THE LUAU AT ROYAL LAHAINA WAS GREAT !!!!!

Didn't get what I booked.
Upon arrival we were informed that they had to downgrade us from a garden level cottage to the third floor of the Kaanapali Ocean Inn. First it was hard for my girlfriend to climb the stairs due to bad knees. While the room was on the most part clean it was old the tiles were falling off in the shower, the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, and there was an odor in the room. We called three time to get a tv remote that worked, never did get one that work 100%.Then there was the nightly luao right outside our balcony I don't know what was worst the noise or the lack of parking.Access to the ocean, to the pool, and to the main resort was not very handy. While the rest of the resort looked great we felt we were stuck out in the getto, it wasn't what their ad said and it wasn't what I paid for. Thank god Maui is beautiful and we didn't need to stay at the resort much.

Overall Review
Hotel in need of renovation. One elevator out of service, with remainder extremely slow, often having to wait up to five minutes just to get on. Small outdated pool compared to other local hotels. I would not recommend this hotel to friends.

The closest thing to horrible
This is my first time in the hotel and the parking is not free, so right off they hit us with another charge. The breakfast buffet was supposed to be included with the room that looked over a roof upon a set of air conditioners, the buffet was not free in fact it was super expensive and staffed by a pair of unkind people. There luckily was a yogurt and granola on the premises at the ice cream shop which was the best thing about the stay. The beach was nice but with no coral reefs or snorkeling like they had in Waleia which has reefs and beach. The property they boast as large but it is mostly condo style huts except for the big hotel. While we were trying to enjoy the beach they started burning leaves or rubbish which we could see and smell. So we left and will never go back and I only want to say check the sheets for holes before you decide to stay in that room.

Honeymoon
I booked this hotel online thru [...]. It looked like a good deal, but it turned out to be worse then I expected. The hotel is 40 years old, it is dirty, there's birds flying through the lobby and the eating area, they pup everywhere, but it doesn't get cleaned out. The stuff is not friendly, especially the front desk. I wouldn't go back to this hotel at all! My advice, pay more money and go to a better hotel, your vacation will be better too.

ANGRY GUESTS
too many hidden costs...we'll never stay
We had to rent a car in order to go places. We were never informed we had to PAY FOR PARKING at the hotel. This really makes me angry. WE WERE HOTEL GUESTS!!!!!!! Where else were we supposed to park but at the hotel parking? We were never told that we had to pay for parking our rental vehicle there. This is WRONG and WE WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN NOR WE WILL RECOMMEND IT TO OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. THIS WAS JUST WRONG. We had traveled before and never encountered such a thing! As I said...next year we are planning on visiting Maui again but NEVER WILL STAY AT YOUR HOTEL. We were not notified about check out time...no...the hotel never contacted us on our room or cell phone. Also we never got reimbursed the $100.00 for "incidentals" This hotel is the worse experience we had ever had. We had breakfast twice at the Pioneer Inn and we are planning on staying next year at the Best Western which is located at the first floor. We now know that we won't have to pay for parking at this hotel. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Also enclosing I would like to address that the "TRADITIONAL LUAU" WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. I HAVE BEEN TO THE LUAU AT THE MARRIOT WHICH IS FAR BETTER THAN YOURS. THEY DO NOT GIVE OUT TRADITIONAL LAIS TO THE GUESTS AND IT SEEMED AS IF YOUR STAFF WANTED TO GET AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.

Not a place I would return tooo!!!!
Cleaning staff did not leave coffee or creamer and did not bring these items even after I called two or three times to request more. The room could have been cleaner - tiny ants were in our room. The bathroom did not have air conditioner so it was always hot in the bathroom.

Royal Lahaina Resort
This was a terrible trip and for sure we won't ever stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The cottage was very noisy, and had a hard time sleeping. The Air Conditioner ran 24 hour's and didn't cool the room down at all. It was cooler outside in the morning. The $10.00 per day parking is terible, small parking stall's. The Luau was very good and we enjoyed it. We compained about the noisy, but the room in the Hotel was another $45.00 per day. We will never go back to Maui, Hawaii [...]

DECEPTION FOR A WEDDING GIFT
Arriving shortly after the taxi ride from the airport my new wife and I checked in about 7pm and went to our "ocean view" room. No such description was close too our room. There was a view of the road and the villa's below as we were on the 8th floor. First reaction of the old room with browns and stained whites for decor colors i thought "there must be a mistake." There was no view of the ocean from our room. If you stood on the balcony and turned 90* to the right you could see a small part of the beach and water through the trees. I went downstairs to the concierge to fix the assumed mistake and i was greeted by a very rude young lady that told me i could pay $60 more per night if i wanted to see the water!?!?! I explained to the woman that when i booked the room there were 3 options: Garden view...Partial ocean...Full ocean. I paid for full. She then went on about comparing the hotel to a cruise ship and how I must understand that because i can see the ocean by turning on my balcony that it can be considered full ocean view. I polity explained that it was my honeymoon and ive been mislead. when i compared rates with "REAL" ocean view rooms they had an affordable rate so i booked through The Royal Lahina. She told me i had her confused for someone that actually cares. So that was it, i got hosed and so odid MANY other guests that did the same thing i found out through talking with fellow guests. I feel like suchh a moron for ruining our honeymoon and will never book this way again. IT IS NOT WHAT THE DESCRIPTION SAYS ONLINE!!!

Long walk from hotel
The town of Lahina is wonderful. the locals are great and everyone is very freindly. there is enough to do on that little strip of "front st." to make that alone worth going to Maui for.
