Beautiful location

Great location right on the water, beautiful grounds. Only one complaint - the parking spaces were so close together it was impossible to open the doors. Usually had to let everyone out, park and then climb out the back.

very hawaiian style hotel

It has a very good location, very close to the black rock where it is a very good snorkeling point. We had dinner in the hotel, the restaurant is near the beach and has live music. You can see the sunset while you are eating. After the sunset, there was a short hula show. We got a partial ocean view room, the room is very clean, but the bathroom is a little bit small in my view.

Family Christmas in Maui

We had stayed in the Royal Lahaina 10 years ago and were very happy with everything. This time, we stayed in one of their "Garden View Cottages" and were a little disappointed. Our cottage was right next to a main road and very nosy. It was very far from the Hotel and Beach. The room was dated and in need of major upgrade and renovation. I think overall that it was a bit over priced. The parking was terrible (small spaces, few spaces, and far from our cottage) and we were charged $10 per day for the parking. The staff was excellent. The food was average and over priced. You will end up spending twice what you thought your room package cost! We loved the trip, the Island, and would stay there again.

Stay somewhere else

The location is beautiful of course sitting on Kaanapali beach you can't go wrong. This is both the gift and curse of the Royal Lahaina Resort. built in 1963 and the cottage i stayed in looked it, sad really. to many problems to list. the grounds were beautiful. will stay somewhere else next year.

Had a few problems

Despite repeated attempts couldn't get wash cloths when room was cleaned. Finally went to front desk and talked with them. This was on day four of a seven day stay. Got wash cloths after our talk. Dining was terrible. Breakfast buffet was minimal and terribly expensive. $21.00 each for not a very good selection. We ordered ribs for dinner one night and was very disapointed. Tasted like boiled meat with bbq sauce poured over it. The ribs were very tough and tasted warmed over. Later that night my wife got severe stomach cramps and was up much of the night. The bar at the pool had very high prices. I ordered a Jack and Coke. It came in a small plastic cup with watery ice and cost $15.63 for one drink. Needless to say, that was the only one I drank. The location is beautiful. I wish the experience had been better as it was for our fortieth wedding annaversary.

Good value, great location

We chose the Royal Lahaina Resort based on the good reviews, and were not disappointed. The room was very nice, clean and provided basic amenities, with the bonus of a balcony. I think most of the rooms have an ocean view, with the best rooms being those overlooking the pool. However, our room above the main entrance was fine, if perhaps a little more noisy. It's an older property, so doesn't have the best soundproofing, but it wasn't bothersome. The restaurant was very nice, with average prices and good service. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice, if basic, and the beach is right there - doesn't get any more convenient. It's a very convenient location, with many shops and restaurants close by. I do recommend a car, however, if you plan on going into town or sightseeing. The concierge can arrange trips, and several were better bargains than what was offered on line. All in all, a very pleasant experience that I would gladly repeat.

It was so great having the nice beach, steps away from the pool! great experience...except it was little noisy from my room between the ocean and the freeway noise; well, closing doors fixed the problem ;)
