Beautiful, inviting and comfortable resort

I have stayed at the Royal Lahaina three different times and am always so pleased with everything about the resort. It is in a perfect location, is comfortable in every way, has all the amenities one would need or desire, and is staffed by exceedingly helpful and friendly staff. I always recommend this resort to others who are planning to travel to Maui.

Great New years trip

Our second time at this hotel and once again we were totally happy with our experience. The tower rooms are great with wonderful ocean views. The beds were comfortable and the beach and pools were perfect.

Good resort on great beach

We only stayed for two nights, but it was clean, quiet, and a great staff. Also did the Luau at this resort and it was interactive. The food at the luau was average. Nice beach bar overlooking both the beach and pool is great. Happy hour starts at 2pm.

Pleasant, but not special

Everything is "ala carte." Parking the car is $10.00 a day. All activity equipment is rented out to guests at rediculous prices. Food is adequate, at best, and overpriced. The "shopping" section of the property is a sea of vacant storefront. Recent renovations were cosmetic ONLY.

Just OK

The front desk staff were great but the cleaning staff always missed leaving at least one of the basic items on a daily basis. The other side of black rock is much better, as far as location goes. The cottages were old, musty, and in much need of refurbishment. The bed was uncomfortable. The towers were better.

Nice place

Overall we enjoyed the experience. The only negative was how loud the doors were and how thin the walls were. There was just a lot of noise from the adjoining rooms. It was not the people themselves, but the doors could not be closed quietly. We were in the garden cottages.

Paradise

We loved this resort. The room, and the view from our balcony, was so beautiful we never wanted to leave. The only thing keeping it from being absolutely perfect was transportation. The resort has a shuttle to Whaler's Village, but it is also a short walk along a beautiful path, and there are lots of shops and restaurants there, and more beach! But, to get to Lahaina you have to take a city bus from Whaler's Village. It worked, but it took a long time and it was very crowded with standing room only. We had planned to just catch our whale watching tour on the beach, but the winds were too high and we had to go into Lahaina. We plan to come back and we'll rent a car for one or two days. Best vacation ever!

First time to Maui

It was an amazing trip and I will be going back. The hotel was ok not dirty or anything but just older. ONE BIG complaint is the water in our room could not be regulated so this made showering real difficult. Hotel was super accommodating with our late flight and even let us use a room to freshen up in after we had checked out. Great value and we will be back !
