Nice, but need something

nice hotel in Maui, beach was rocky you needed water shoes to get in. Staff was special anything we needed we got. The room need improvements, couch was well worn, sliding glass doors needed screens to keep bugs out.

Good value.

The bad: In the room the shower had mildew and the couch looked dirty. The beach next to the hotel was only narrow strip of sand. At high tide you almost can't walk on the beach without the waives washing over your feet. The good: the price was great $1800 for 7 days Including air fair for two from Seattle. The room was large with a partial view had A little kitchen with dishes, a microwave and hot plate (no stove or oven).

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you don't want to be stuck in a fairly small area you need to rent a car. It's a 45 minute plus drive the the main airport.

Ideal Getaway

It is hard to describe an ideal getaway other than to say that if you want an experience that tops what one hopes to find then spend a week at the Kaanapali Beach Club on Maui. The setting is perfect - all rooms with ocean view. Sip a glass of wine on your patio and watch whales cavorting in the not to distant waters. The staff is great and ever ready to assist to make your stay a memorable event. It's a 5 star event.

Kaanapali Beach Club

This was our third stay at KBC. If you're not interested in a time share just ignore the salespeople. KBC is conveniently located near the Tomes grocery which has everything you need at competitive prices. Other than that this place has super friendly, accomodating staff, great meals and a superb oceanfront pool. Tom, the chef deserves credit for super service and friendliness. The entire facility is always clean and the pool/hot tub were the highlight. Spent many hours by the pool. Have Dave at the bar make you a drink at Happy Hour. He's another who deserves credit for making our trip, another trip of a lifetime at KBC. We definitely will make an effort to return.

Pacific Whale Foundation is highly recommended for a whale watch and/or snorkelling tour..A non profit society that makes the experience so enjoyable and informative.

Nicely done

the room was very nice but the happy hour food was atrocious. it was great having full access to parking garage. the beach is missing but they promise it will return. did not like that they snagged the weary traveller upon checkin to go to the diamond timeshare orientation and to take advantage of the free gift upon arrival. Pool was nice and big with lots of open chairs - there was never a mad dash for chairs early in the morning.

Big rooms, good staff, but not everything was as expected

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights in November 2012. Pros: Room: 1. The suit was very big and we were able to convert the living room into kids bedroom. The bedrooms and bathroom were clean and room service was as required. the staff replaced the sofa with two roll aways. 2. Overall a great value as compared to other locations. The hotel was away from black rock, but black rock is overrated and not really for kids (because it is too deep). mala ramp or baby beaches are great beaches. 3. The staff was quite friendly and tried to accomodate our requirements. Cons: 1. Ocean view is only partial ocean view and we were not happy about it. They have a deluxe ocean view which is really ocean view. 2. The concierge was too pushy to sell us tickets to different events and none were really that great. One tip, they are desperate and can offer discounts of up to 80% if you negotiate. Ask for what you want and not what they are offering (which is usually not the best). 3. Kitchen is also partial, meaning that you can fix a simple breakfast and nothing more. btw, ask the locals (at grocery stores where they eat and which beaches they visit. You will get great tips)

The resort has gone downhill....

I have stayed at this hotel twice many years ago and always had a good experience until my most recent trip. I was traveling with my husband and 1 year old daughter and had requested a room with a king size bed, a crib, and also a room on a higher floor when we made the reservations 6 months prior to our stay. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that the room that they held for us had double beds and was on the 3rd floor. The only other room they had was on the 2nd floor with a king size bed. We were told we wouldn't be able to hear any noise with the waterfall being outside, but the live music at the bar was so loud and kept my daughter up. Also, the air conditioning didn't work. We called maintenance and they came up and confirmed that yes we had all the doors closed, they reset the server and then it started working, but the next day it broke again. Called maintenance and they fixed it again; however, it still wasn't working properly. It then wouldn't shut off on its own when it reached the desired temp. I had it set for 71, but would wake up and it would still be running at 68 degrees. I talked to a manager about the noise and ac and she said there were no other rooms available for several days, but the next day I saw several people checking in and out at the lobby.
