Paradise...
The hotel is better than we expected! We love it! The room is clean and very big. The staff is friendly but professional and the check-in is fast. The restaurant is very beautiful, good food, but a little expensive. The luau is wonderful! The swimming pool is the bigger one I ever seen and the gardens are full of birds (like swan, flamingo...) and others animals. A real paradise!

Fantastic Kaanapali Honeymoon
If you choose the Hyatt as your home base make sure you get the rate that includes the breakfast buffet. Fresh fruit, sweet breads (banana bread, pineapple bread, donuts, etc.), omelet/fresh eggs (even brown eggs if you prefer them) station, toasting station (be careful with the light/dark switch, it's easy to burn your toast!), fresh grilled fish in front of a waterfall-fed pond featuring swans and mandarin ducks. You can also order from the menu and having breakfast included makes planning your day easier. Wanna watch whales? It didn't seem to matter which company you choose to take since the whales seemed to be everywhere--we could even see them spout and breach from our ocean-front room (definitely worth the upgrade!). The naturalist on our boat said that there were approx. 11,000-15,000 in the Maui area. We walked to our catamaran. I love scrapbooking and it was quite a treat to find a shop close to the airport. I thought they'd only have the usual stuff that you'd see anywhere. This place makes their own paper, their own stamps and their own die-cuts. Definitely worth the stop if you're into scrappin'! The Hyatt has nice dining, however all of the resorts and restaurants seem to lean toward pricey fine dining. We chose to head to Lahaina for dinner most nights. Lots of different places to eat (Lahaina Pizza Co. is excellent pan pizza with the lightest buttered crust I've ever had!), terrific window shopping, and the best shave ice at Ululani's. You have to look for Ululani's or ask because it's worth it. The Sunset Beach flavor with a snow cap tastes exactly like a creamsicle! Whaler's Village is a nice, convenient shopping area walkable from the Hyatt where you can get anything from a bottle of water at the ABC store to a spectacular Vuitton bag. If you find your favorite brand you'll find stuff you won't find anywhere else! Visit the whaling museum too. It has fascinating details about the workers on the whaling ships. Nice gift shop too. Safeway/Foodland are 2 convenient grocery stores close to the Hyatt and definitely worth the trip to get water, soda and munchies. Yeah...you're gonna get sticker shock, but c'mon man, you're in Maui! Suntan lotion wasn't as overpriced as most things. Stayed a week and wish we booked a longer stay, but it just means we have quite a list of things to do when we return like the Ma'aleaa Aquarium, the Farmer's Market, a day trip to Lanai island, and a drive to Wailea.

Great location and nice hotel
Hotel has beautiful grounds and wonderful pool. The rooms are updated and comfortable but not top of the line. Only two negatives: First, food and drink prices we're high even for Maui standards. Second, there is only one hot tub and it is mobbed with children. They need a second "adult only" hot tub to be an excellent resort. Staff is accomodating and friendly.

Make sure to stock up on water and other snacks at one of the supermarkets in Lahaina. To buy everything at the resort would cost a fortune.

Everything and More
Our family stayed at the Hyatt for 6 days from 10/30 to 11/5/2010.The customer service at the hotel was the best of the best. We were checked in by [...] who could not have been more pleasant. After eating at the morning buffet one time, [...] the cashier referrered to us by name. Very impressive to say the least. The room was very clean and nice. The only complaint was the thermostat was not working properly. We could not set the tempature to a comfortable tempature which made for some uncomfortable nights of sleep. We took the road to Hana Tour through Pleasant Tours . This is a must see tour don't miss it! Wesaw the lauau at The Royal Liahaina Resort. Check the weather forecast before booking as it's rain or shine. Unfortunately for us it was raining. We got soaked( even though they provide a poncho) as did our food and drinks.Take advantage of the free parking at the Hyatt which is on the side of the building vs. $20.00 a day for valet.Stay at the Hyatt and you will not be disappointed.
