Perfect for first trip to Hawaii

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, Lahaina was fabulous. We had never been to Hawaii before, so this being our first trip, the resort was perfect. It had all the amenities we needed to just stay there and not have to go elsewhere. The Sushi Bar was incredible and we ate there almost everyday. The pool was huge and offered lots of space so that even though there were alot of people we never felt crowded. And of course the access to the beaches was fabulous. With just a walk we could get to many beaches and shopping. Location was awesome. We loved the room and the bed was super comfortable. All of the staff was more than helpful, we even commented to each other that they all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. We were very happy with our stay. And want to go back next time for a longer time.

Great hotel amenities

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa was very comfortable and provided great hotel amenities, such as a huge swimming pool, great location by the beach, spa, and shopping right at the hotel. The partial ocean view room was hardly partial; a sweeping view of the water and the Lahaina shorline was viewable from our lanai. Close proximity to Lahaina for great dining and shopping also made this a great place to stay.

The Lahaina Hyatt Regencey in Maui is a great place to stay - beautiful beach, nice pool, great location. I would recommend this hotel because, the hotel was beautiful inside and out. The pool was very large to accommodate many sunbathers and had waterfalls and a slide. The staff was very friendly.

Lovely resort for couples and families too!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Our room in the atrium tower had a full ocean view which was visible from indoors as well as the balcony. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable with nice amenities. The sink vanity area is separate from the bathroom and was spacious. Also, there was a buffet type cabinet with a small refrigerator, coffemaker and minibar. The walk in closet held the safe and stored the iron and ironing board. Should you be elderly or have arthritic knees, etc., you may want to know that the beds - although quite comfortable - are a little lower to the floor than normal. There is no roof over the lobby/atrium area and it's beautifully landscaped. In the lobby atrium you'll see birds, fish and just off to the side are tropical penguins. What a surprise that was! For the shopaholics there are numerous stores to browse through including stores with Hawaiian quilts,a gift shop with snacks and even Macy's. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and every time we strolled through we saw something different. The waterfalls and pool area are beautiful. We didn't see many people swimming in the ocean but the chaises around the pool filled early every day. The waterslide was closed for repair during our stay. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet in Swan Court. It's a beautiful, peaceful setting watching the swans and the food was awesome! The selection of food was nearly overwhelming and offered enough variety so even the pickiest eaters should be happy. Room service took about 1hr and the food was hot and delicious and extremely generous portions. Breakfast buffet was approx $29. Resort fee each day $15. Valet parking $12. Free parking if you don't mind the short walk. Turn down service is offered only if you ask. Same for change of linens. We didn't attend the nightly luau ($99 per person) but heard some of the music. Each evening at 5pm they had a special ceremony for lighting the tiki torches throughout the property. Whether you're taking a romantic honeymoon or vacationing with the family, you're sure to have a wonderful stay at this resort.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Visit historic Lahaina town. Whalers Village mall was disappointing. Cannery Mall is a short drive and has a drug store, grocery store, ABC store and more. Maui Brewing company and Maui Tacos had good food. If you go on the road to Hana, be sure to stop at the Shell station and buy the CD tour. You'll receive a map and DVD also.

Not so great for a honeymoon

If you want a honeymoon that makes you feel special, then don't go here. Honeymooners are a dime a dozen. The hotel does nothing to help you celebrate (room upgrade, etc, like other hotels do). The restaurants are extremely over priced & you have to make reservations for most of them. The drinks at the bars are also overpriced ($10 a peice). Also, if you put down a debit card for your ammenities, they will put a $100 per day hold on your card for the length of your stay. They didn't tell me this upon check in, and we had $700 we could not touch until they released the hold at the end of our stay! On the other hand, the grounds are beautiful. The pool and gardens are amazing! My husband had a massage at the spa, and gave it an A++. Honestly, I would reccommend staying at a smaller, more personable hotel instead of a overpriced resort.

The Hyatt was not only beautiful, but the staff was very friendly. The entire staff made sure that we were comfortable with our stay. They even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and placed it in our room when we told them it was our honeymoon. I loved the hotel!

The room location and the ...

The room location and the exterior views from our room were great. But I thought the decor in the room was dated. You had peeling wallpaper in some areas, mold in the bathroom area and water leaking from fauset.I also found the television was not up to par.

relaxing

The Hyatt Regency was relaxing. The room was a comfortable. It wasn't small and cramped at all. The ac paired with the bed makes you not want to leave the room. The room even has internet. The mini bar is sensor so take note if you move anything. It will be automatically charged to your room. So check your bill. The dining overlooks beautiful ocean views. The pool can get a little crowded though. The neat thing about this hotel's pool is that it has a cocktail area in it. There is another pool off to the side with a child wading pool. There are lots of birds throughout the lobby.
