Average

Apparently it makes a difference how you book this resort. The unit we received had many issues...too many for the rate we paid for an oceanview 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Problems with the air conditioning, oven, dryer and freezer. Oceanview meant a sliver of ocean if you positioned yourself in one corner of the balcony. We were very disappointed.

Good place to stay for 3-5 nights, especially with family

We rented a 2BR suite with partial ocean view. Each room has a bathroom attached. One of them does not open into the living room, so is private. The balcony view had mountains on the right and the ocean on the left. A good breeze during our stay made it enjoyable to sit down there and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. We had minor glitches checking in--the staff initially did not find our reservation in one of the towers and sent us to the second tower from where we were asked to return. We also had a blown light bulb in a bathroom that did not get fixed during our 4 night stay. The kitchen comes with plates/pots/pans/dishwashing and washer/dryer. It is easy to put some supplies into the fridge to make it functional for everyday use so you don't have to run to the restaurants for snacks and drinks every time. My ratings -- Amenities -- Wifi in the room was very weak. Blown light already noted above. Comfort -- dryer apparently vents to the inside of the suite; do a load of laundry and it can get pretty warm inside. Beds were comfortable. So was the sofa bed. Staff -- Minor issue at check-in and no-show for light fix in the bathroom noted above. When renting towels, the renting station did not disclose hourly option. Value -- the resort was okay and I was glad there was no nickel and dimming for small essentials within the room. The rental for one umbrella and three chairs at the beech costs $50 and felt steep considering I was only there for an hour. Overall: I would consider staying here again.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Drums of the Pacific Luau at the Hyatt is a couple of lights down from this hotel. Don't care if the show is not "authentic" as some guide books say; it was entertaining.

Great Place

Friendly staff, great suite with nice view. Awesome area by Kaanapali beach (One of the best beaches in Maui). Resort is also close to Front St. in Lahaina. The Reesort's restaurant, Duke's Beach House, offers great food. Free valet parking included. Overall, we had a great experience at this place.

Good hotel

The experience was great. Note they do not have the kids club any more, that you might see advertized on some websites. I chose them because I thought they did, I was disappointed. The room was great, the kitchen and laundry right in the room is perfect for a family. Rooms get cleaned and new towels are given every other day - something to know and count on, although I am sure if you call you will get service, the hotel staff is very responsive. The pools at the hotel are fantastic - the slide is fun for kids and adults, the infinity pool is beautiful. Location is more out of the way, it is not the events' central, just keep that in mind - you might or might not like it depending on what you are looking for. There is a grocery store right nearby and dining options are all easy to get to. Whaler's Village is five minutes' drive away. Lahaina is a bit more, but it is still very easy to get to. The restaurant on site is nice, there is a more relaxed option and a more upscale one too - either for adults or to feed the kids. Lots of people come here with kids. There are no movie nights or any organized kid activities, however, and the kids' slide closes at 5 pm. The bed was comfortable, the pullout couch the kids slept on was fine for them, but I wasn't very comfortable when laying on it,so for adults it is not as good.

Shopping tip: In Hotel

There is a hotel photographer on site. We had out pictures taken and bought one of the packages. The pictures turned out beautifully, the photographer did a great job and we didn't have to go looking far for someone else in town for a higher fee.

It was a great hotel!!!

We loved this place. It was expensive but the room was great. It was spacious and clean with a nice view of the ocean. I wish the hotel was a little closer to restaurants, we had to drive to go eat but other than that everything was great.

Pretty room/ crowded pool/ narrow beach

The suite was as depicted in photos. Very pretty & with a great kitchen & laundry area. However, we were a couple traveling alone & this place reminded us of timeshares at Orlando. Lots of families. The pool area was very crowded The beach was very narrow, I think the problem was we were spoiled by the other hotels we stayed at ( Makena beach resort, Travassa & Fairmont) so for us this ranked last compared to the others
