Lovely location in Kona

This is an older hotel in an excellent location in Kona. The rooms are dated for sure, but we had a lovely view from our spacious room. And there were many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Great for a short stay before we drove up to Waikoloa for our resort vacation!

Wonderful Place

We loved this hotel. Within walking distance of several shops, a wonderful concierge desk that helped us book various tours. There were beautiful views, a great spa, and we have terrific memories of the place. We definitely will return next time we're in Hawaii!

Wonderful experience

View from our room was breathtaking. We were upgraded to an oceanfront room by one of the female staff member. Me and my wife really liked the location, it was a few steps away from restaurants and shopping. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Wonderful Hawaii Vacation

We enjoyed our room very much as it had recently been renewed. The building itself was in the process of being renovated, so our outside balcony doors were not yet replaced and were difficult to open and close, and the balcony itself had not yet been renovated.

Wonderful location But hotel needs upgrading

The location can't be beat. We had an ocean front room and it was fantastic. We watched a whale breach while we were unpacking! The room itself needed a good upgrade and many repairs. The toilet handle (flusher) kept falling off, the toilet would run unless you jiggled the handle, the sink hot water lever was barely attached, the socket holding the light bulb to the night stand lamp was broken and the bulb was dangling. The air conditioner made such a clanging noise every time it started up or shut down it would wake us with a start! On night two we couldn't take it and had to report it. They did have it fixed by the next day so I was impressed with that! I left a tip for the cleaning staff on day two ( I meant to leave one each morning but on day one I forgot) and the morning I did tip, they didn't clean the bathroom or leave any shampoo, etc. I called housecleaning and asked for an extra washcloth and shampoo. A few hours later they brought it to our room and I cleaned it myself. I decided not to tip daily after that and the next night they set our alarm clock to go off at midnight! I guess they told us!! I wouldn't stay here again as there are other hotels with just as good a view. I never felt as though they were glad we were staying there and we were there for 9 nights.

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

If you are looking for night life, this is not the Island for you. The entire Island shuts down right around 7:30 pm. The restaurants are open but by about 9:00 pm they are ready to close as well.
