Not Much Has Changed
We stayed at the Poipu Sheraton 25 yrs ago. It hasn't been updated that much. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and some brighter lighting. The beds and linens were very nice though.

Garden Area is Great!
The Garden Rooms offer a quiet and secluded retreat from the busy sounds of the beach and pool area. Great restuarants are within 5 minutes of the resort along with wonderful snokeling in front of resort and walking distance from the beach out front.

What a place!!
For those who haven't been to Kauai, stop thinking about it and make it happen!! We just returned from our trip a day ago and could not have been more pleased with the Sheraton. Their rooms are clean, excellent staff, and a large beach that has space for everyone! This place celebrates the ocean and does a great job showing it. They also have free activities like yoga on the beach that's very relaxing!

When in town, on the way coming or going from poipu beach, stop at the small area of shops and pick up food from Sueko's market. That is where all the locals go to get lunch and we saw why. Food was excellent! If you want a good deal for lunch, that's the place. Otherwise if you want pizza, there is Pizzetta right there that's got a good lunch special!

Sheraton Kauai
My wife and I went here for our 5 year anniversary and had an absolute blast. We initially had reserved a partial ocean view room for the week but decided once we got there to upgrade to a full ocean view room because it was awesome to have the ocean 30 yards outside out room. Grounds are very nicely kept and service was good.

Hotel is wonderful, Hawaii has BIG expenses!
The Sheraton Kauai is a wonderful place to spend your time when you are in Kauai - right on the beach, excellent (but pricey) restaurant, nice staff, Starbucks coffee packets in the rooms, waitstaff around the pool, and so on. This place truly earns a 4-star rating. The hotel handled a small problem in my stay in a very magnanimous manner very much in my favor. I feel this is a mark of a more successful place to stay. Just remember, Hawaii charges visitors $25.00 a day (plus $1.04 tax on this charge) to stay in a hotel so you are paying a premium on your vacation.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Go to ride horses at Silver Falls Ranch, ride ATVs at Kipu Ranch, go to a luau but AVOID Napali Riders tours and Captain Andy's tours - expensive and, in the case of Napali Riders, so poorly organized that I am but angry and in pain.

Great get away for any reason!
The staff was friendly and always welcoming. The rooms were clean and well-stocked. It's helpful when the front office staff places families next to other families for noise purposes. The only noise we heard was in the hallway. We stayed in an ocean front room and loved getting up in the morning and sitting quietly on our "porch" watching the waves. The pool is close, as is the small beach. A car is a must as most of the activities and sightseeting requires a small amount of road time. They have thought of everything, so you don't have to. The gardens are beautiful and we had a great time. We loved it.

There are several "pockets" of restaurants near the hotel in nearby neighborhoods. Drive around and don't be afraid to staff and other guests. We found most all the restaurants were great. We loved the hotel's "All you can eat buffet"for breakfast. A fabulous meal and view can't be beat. The staff is friendly too.

Relaxing Holiday in the Sun
My husband and I spent a week at the shelaton in July. We enjoyed the sea front pool and the beach. We didn't use the garden pool as it looked like the filter wasn't working properly and looked murky. The grounds are very pretty and it is a quiet resort, no noise at night. Not a place to party as the bar restaurant bar closes at 11.00 pm. We were in bed at 10.00 every night. The Rum Fire restaurant is enclosed and the air conditioning is way too cold so takes away the comfort level for me. There are at least 7 restaurants in walking distance so we had lots of choice for dinner which was great. The resort fee is too high, at $25.00 a day we only made use of the wireless and parking which I think should be things that are included in the standard charge. It would have been good to have light on the balcony to read a book at night. Staff was friendly. It is good to have a car in Kauai as there are not many other beaches in the area in walking distance. We would stay at a Sheraton again.

Great location and beautiful beach
The hotel is wonderful located on Poipu Beach. It really is sunny there compared to any other place on the island more often. Nice pool and rooms(oceanfront is worth te upgrade) Beach is gorgeous and safe for swimming and jumping waves. A lot of boogie boards and surfing right on the beach. Area is great. A lot of choices for food and shopping. You need a car to get around but you can walk to two small shopping centers. If you have a car you need to take a drive to the north shore. A lot more to see and do but great to go back to Poipu beach.

Try the food trucks I.e. Chalupas in Koloa town. Food is amazing. Fish tacos are the best. Suekos for a quick lunch to take to the beach is dirt cheap and yummy.
