Expensive Hawaiian Island Trip

The Hotel is nice. My expectations were a bit high from what I was told from others. For the price. Price should have been Half what it was. Everyone from Hotel and town was very friendly and accomodating. The Dollar Car pick up attendant was rude beside the Condo people who wants you to "buy" right now. She was rude after we bowed out. Other than that, the weather wasn't as warm as expected. The Bathroom at the Hyatt will give you a chuckle when you go use the toilet (lol). That's all I will say about that. Not alot to do on Kauai, but was a nice Vacation. The Buffet breakfast is fantastic. Just don't do it every day. They have a lighter fair there too that is nice if you don't need big breakfast. The luau is not the best there either, which it should have been. Not good beaches for snorkeling either. Water has alot of heavy currents. Still fun though~

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

You need a rental car to get around. Nothing close by. Not alot of shopping areas near hotel or out from hotel. Just not like Maui,Kona or Honolulu. Expensive meals no matter where you go. Unless you want McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. You want to save money you need a cooler for Milk, etc for your room for Breakfast or lunch. Your room has a dinky coffee pot. We bought a cheap one from Kmart so we could have our coffee. It's very expensive for a pot of coffee (4 cup) delivered to your room $35.00. That was a one time shot. No microwave anywhere to use. I would buy a toaster next time and maybe a cheap microwave if you want to save on your food.

Pampered Vacation

What stands out among other hotels is that all the employees (from valet to concierge to housekeeping to hotel desk to pool servers to restaurant employees) were very friendly. All employees would acknowledge you with an Aloha, Good Morning, etc. They also asked if you wanted anything! This is our 2nd time at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and it just keeps getting better.

Best Hotel Ever

I travel a great deal. My wife and I always vacation at top hotels, and I have to say the Grand Hyatt is probably one of the very best hotels i've ever stayed. My only complaint is there is no "casual" bar later in the evening. There is the Captains Bar in the middle of the pool area, but it closes at 6 p.m. It should be open until 10. Several evenings we returned from an outing only wanting a burger or appetizer only to find you had to go into the main restaurants. Other than that, it's a perfect place to stay. The lagoon area is phenomenal. We will surely return.

Expensive, but gorgeous!

My husband and I came to the Grand Hyatt recently and really enjoyed our stay. Everything at the resort was expensive, but that is to be expected. The room was clean and comfortable and check in was easy. At check-out there was a $300 charge that was not ours. Victor at the front desk took care of the situation very prompt and remained friendly. Staff we came across was all nice. This time of year was perfect on Kauai - the weather was awesome and they resort wasn't crowded. We will come back!

A real treat!

Loved this hotel! The pools were amazing and I loved the water slide. The food in the restaurants was fantastic, but you really pay for it. But you also get what you pay for! I could easily spend an entire vacation here without leaving! The room was comfy and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, it really added to the experience of being in Kauai.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Nothing was included in our room price, meaning we paid extra for the coffee and water in the room, upgraded wi-fi, and the self-parking. There's a Wal-Mart 15-20 minutes away where we shopped for water, snacks, wine and other things, which helped us save some money.

Beautiful location, ultimate luxury

I was impressed from the moment we drove up. The lobby itself is quite something to experience with its vaulted ceilings and beautiful woodwork. The location offers spectacular views and easy walking access to a coastline hike to a rather seculded and beautiful beach. The beach in front of the hotel itself is nice enough, but not the nicest on the island by any stretch. The pools are incredible, especially the lagoon which has its own sandy beach and shallows. Lots of parking available that is included in the resort fee. We had a garden view room and loved the view. We had breakfast on our balcony each morning and found it a perfect way to start the day. Would come here again no questions.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Plantation Gardens restaurant is a short drive away but well worth it. Excellent food and ambience for a reasonable price considering what dinner of that caliber goes for on that side of the island (Dinner for two with coctails and desert $80). Wish I had found it earlier. For local eats, Koloa Market has great plate lunch and Uncle's Shave Ice is not to be missed. Keoki's Paradise was fun in a "Tiki Bar" kitschy kind of way, with great food, but nothing to rave about.

Awesome hotel

Amazing hotel. It is hands down worth the price tag. My wife and I spent 10 days here for our honeymoon. They upgraded our room for free and sent a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room. Very clean and well kept. It never felt crowded. Service was excellent. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and happy to assist you in any way possible. The last day we were there, our flight didn't leave until 10pm. They let us freshen up in a complimentary room for about an hour before we left the hotel. Drinks and food are also expensive, but again, very good. Stevenson's Library was a highly frequented spot for us.

Unforgettable honeymoon getaway!!

I had done a lot of research of all the different resorts on Kauai and am so HAPPY that we decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt. There is no better place to stay!!! To say that it was AMAZING is an understatement. The service was awesome, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was gorgeous with views that could not be beat! We were nestled in between two cliffs that you could climb up to for a great view of the sunrise. The pools and salt water lagoons were great...we enjoyed them every afternoon after our excursions. The dining choices were great also, but very pricey. You can eat off property for much cheaper. Although you could easily stay at the hotel for your entire stay...because of how large the grounds were and how much they had to offer. You definitely have to sit on the swings by the beach at sunset...so peaceful! We will definitely be back and would not stay anywhere else...we were spoiled!!!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

While the hotel was absolutely amazing, the restaurants were very pricey. Especially for breakfast, you can get it cheaper just a mile up the road at the Poipu Shopping Village - the burger restaurant there does a great breakfast and the prices are pretty reasonable. Also, Joes on the Green is located by the shopping center as well, they are on the golf course and offer early bird breakfast specials from 7am to 8:30am.

A Wonderful Escape

We stayed here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The property is stunning and the amenities are great. We did not hear a peep once we were in our room which made for a very relaxing get away without our kids. Apart from some trouble getting through to the concierge for our reservations it was the perfect location for us.

This was our first time on Kauai so we were the ultimate tourists. We higly recommend the following: Capt. Andy's Zodiac Tour ([...] were great); Kauai Backroads Zipline Tour ([...] are the best); and Kauai Backroads Tubing Tour ([...] were terrific).
