Relaxed Coconut Coast condo resort for easy, convenient vacationing
An oceanfront resort with 160 one-bedroom condominiums, Plantation Hale Suites makes vacation living easy thanks to spacious condominiums fully equipped with everything guests need, including a fine location overlooking Waipouli Beach. Moderately priced and family friendly, Plantation Hale Suites has three swimming pools as well as shuffleboard and croquet. After a day exploring, family and friends can gather around one of the resort grills and cook up a feast while watching the sun set in fiery splendor over the Pacific Ocean.
Highlights
  • Easy on the budget
  • Three swimming pools, two whirlpools
  • Complimentary Internet access
  • Roomy one-bedroom vacation homes
Location
Plantation Hale Suites sits on the Royal Coconut Coast, near where the Wailua River spills into the Pacific Ocean. From this central location it is easy to get to adventures, from hiking Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park in the west to kayaking along one of the most famous coasts in the country, the Na Pali Coast at the north end of Kauai. The Coconut Coast is the most populated area of Kauai, but there are plenty of quiet spaces in and around the vacation condominiums at Plantation Hale Suites.
Rooms
Each of the one-bedroom condos at Plantation Hale Suites has both air conditioning and ceiling fans, a full kitchen, two cable TVs, private lanai and a sofa bed in the living room for added sleeping space. Condominiums are housed in 10 two-story buildings with "scenic" and garden views.
Features
The low-rise buildings at Plantation Hale Suites are set beneath the slender coconut palms that give this coastal area its name. While the beach here, about 150 yards away, is not for swimming, Lydgate Beach Park, less than a mile away, is. Plantation Hale Suites is utterly relaxed – there is no need to get dressed up unless you want to. There is no restaurant on the property, but guests who want to eat out have a huge selection of eclectic eateries in this area to choose from, including those among the 60-plus shops and restaurants of Coconut Marketplace across the street.

First time to Kauai

Though this was rated fairly on this website, there are several reviews all over the web that made this place out to be better than it was. Outdated, on a busy, BUSY road, and the only hotel in this clustered hotel location that was not right on the beach. Room service never did our dishes and barely picked up our rooms. Kapa'a is a perfectly central location in Kauai, but I would not stay at this hotel again.

Stay Here!

We are back for a second time in one week. This place is great. Kitchenette is well-equiped and cooking here is cheaper and healthier than eating out. That alone saves us a lot of money! Clean grounds, clean rooms, comfy beds, good internet... everything here is perfect. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Took Grandma and Grandpa Along

Our stay at the Plantation Hale was pleasant. Unfortunately the non-smoking unit smelled strongly of Cigarette smoke from years gone by. Staff was very friendly. We had a couple maintenance issues, a clogged kitchen sink and broken slider mechanism for the living room glass door, maintenance was promt and friendly. Having a kitchen and an in living room sofa sleeper for the grandparents were nice features. Parking was never an issue. I do wish the "resort fee" would be rolled into the initial price. This $12 a day mandatory fee is supposed to give you extra benefits. Not sure what exactly we got for our extra $12 a day that we wouldn't get at another Hotel. Still even with the $12 a day added in the total was still a great value. They were kind enough to supply us with a crib for my infant son at no extra charge. We stayed there 2 weeks, and twice had to ask if maid service had missed us (apparently they had) some one was in our room within 20 minutes both times. The complex was neatly maintained/groomed and the grounds were quiet at night, aside from the highway noise. We loved the location.

Plantation Hale

Paid $10/day for upgrade from Standard room facing freeway to quieter, remodeled room. Shower mat was stained. Overall, a good value and good location to get to both north and south shores. Staff friendly. Enjoyed the free DVDs.

Planet Hale stay

We paid extra o be upgraded away from the Kuhio Hwy, and were told there was no record of an upgrade request, so we got stuck in a room next to the Hwy which was very noisy. We also had to pay an amenity use fee of $12.00 per day (what amenities?). The check-in clerk sais we should have booked directly with them instead of through Or... for better results. We said next time we would, but there will not be a next time. We asked for a postcard to be mailed from the customer service area, and were denied the request, and had to go find a post office on our own.

Kapaa

Not the best of locations since it's right off of the freeway and you aren't beachside or oceanview. It doesn't have central air but does have a wall unit in the bedroom. The kitchen is very dated and doesn't have a dishwasher. It was very clean and sufficient for a family getaway but not luxurious by any means. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
