Home away from home!
My 4th Oahu hotel experience. Professional helpful staff. I wish I could have stayed longer, I did not even get to enjoy the pool area with the beautiful waterfall. But I walked up to it coming and going from the planned activities. When I come back to Oahu, White Sands is where I want to stay, small hotel, 3 floors, no elevators, but a big feeling of being at home. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me. I spoke with the staff to finalize the arrangements, I was traveling with my elderly mother, her first visit to Hawaii. The staff member that I spoke to placed us in the perfect room for her medical conditions, although as soon as we got there she seemed 30 years younger. The laundry area was a big plus for me. The hotel was very clean and the staff so pleasant, I felt like family (ohana). Truly an Aloha experience. Mahalo White Sands!!!

Great Value
It was in an AMAZING LOCATION. right near the international market, and 2 blocks away from the main street where all the shopping is(all the designers on this street). The beach is very close by as well, 5-10 min walk from the hotel. This hotel is easily one of the best values in the Wakiki area. the room was clean, there was a pool(but the jacuzzi is not in service anymore). There is a bus stop about a block away, VERY convenient, cost $2.5/0person to basically travel round trip to most of the island for that day. The staff was great, every time we needed towels to go to the beach, they were very helpful with that, as well as with the activities we could do( they suggested to go to the hotel nearby for further info on the activities). Christreann was also very helpful with suggestions on what to do around the area.

Shore Bird, was great. They have a dinner special, where you order your food, and then grill it yourself(as they guide you to do it). I thought it was romantic, PLUS the place is ON THE BEACH, ocean view was great. It is also very affordable, it comes with an unlimited salad bar for the dinner special. My girlfriend and I loved the place.

Great location, good value
Great location, easy access to beach and shopping, while on a quieter side street. The staff is lovely and gracious. Room was clean and spacious with a very nice kitchenette. No bathtubs available and Internet only in lobby and incredibly slow.

Great quiet hideaway in the middle of Waikiki
Sweet old place and easy access to beach and, the 2 main streets in Waikiki. Nice sunset on the beach. We went to the local food pantry and got our own coffee and filters, also some food. Kitchenette is a a real asset. My wife wanted to shop at the outlet stores in Waikele so we took a shuttle there. She got some great deals, I read a book.. We booked a room looking over the pool. Really quiet and our internet worked fine from the pool area. Make sure you get a code for each device. Again, it's an old hotel, no elevators, but very good vibe.

Cozy & Perfect Slice of Paradise
Our check in was a little unique in that the police were there at the same time...this was a little frightening but it was because the hotel personnel are quite watchful and cautious for their guests need for quiet. The rooms on the first floor are wonderful. A little updating is needed but they were constantly working on doing that in different rooms, while we were there. The rooms are very well cleaned. The staff was amazing. A waterfall in the courtyard allows you to sit out by the pool and not hear the city noises around you. Amazing little place! Would return!!!

There are multiple restaurants nearby. For a great lunch or dinner, we found "Big Kahuna" restaurant and bar. It was wonderful. A great breakfast at another place, about the same distance for only $3.99 on Kuihu st. heading toward Seaside St. Lots of great shopping nearby also.

I think OK for Waikiki standards
I think the hotel was built in the ´70 and never renewed. The furniture are very old and consumed. The room was not very clean, I even found somebody else t-shirt under the bed. I had to clean the chairs on the balcony for using them. Staff is very nice and helpful. I think it is the standard you get in Waikiki for $100 per night...Good thing is the location, if you want to party it is all walking distance.

I would not recommend this hotel to even my worse enemy. The staff were great and the room was cozy but we had to pay $25 a day to actually park at the hotel ($150 total) plus we had to pay a $50 deposit. One word about this place ... RUN! (Run fast!!!) The worse hotel experience ever!!!!!

Sadly disappointed
The hotel was very old and the rooms were quite used. The bathroom was not very clean and the sheets on the bed had no elasticity in the fitted one so it kept coming off. The bed was not comfortable. Super limited parking for $25 a night. There was a kitchenette but you have to do the dishes and clean it all yourself if you chose to use it, the maids don't touch it. The only good thing about this hotel was its location. It is walking distance from the main strip in downtown and the beach.

I would recommend not getting a car if you plan to stay in Waikiki area, rent a moped. Parking is very hard to come by and VERY expensive. If you do get a car, get the smallest car you can because almost all parking is compact and it is very tight to maneuver in lots.

Breakfast 'n Coffee
Cheap spot with a kitchenette in Waikiki
If you don't mind walking a few blocks to the beach you might want to consider this hotel. The kitchenette may or may not have saved us money, but it definitely saved us time. And it allowed us to eat breakfast and drink our coffee on the balcony overlooking a wonderful... street with hotels! Okay, so the view from our city-facing balcony wasn't anything special. Despite the (lame?) view we really liked how relaxing it was - it provided a nice calm balance in the morning before going out all day/night doing the touristy stuff. Walking to the beach in Waikiki is simple from this hotel. Never felt it was a problem at any hour. Early in the morning it's actually kinda nice since there are still spots on the beach to relax and there aren't many people in the water if you want to go swimming like we did. We forgot our towels/gear so we just walked back to the hotel in our sandals. Kuhio, the busy street at the end of the block, is lively on the weekend nights and there are a couple clubs you will walk past if you're trying to walk anywhere. There are also lots of stores and at the end of the street is an entrance to the 'international marketplace', in other words the block-long collection of souvenir booths/kiosks/carts. We tried one of the clubs/restaurants at the end of the street for about 30 seconds before leaving for somewhere quieter. There's a noodle place at the end of the street that IS THE BEST. Really. It's unbelievable how good their udon is. They're open in the morning for breakfast and then lunch through dinner. If you're lucky and your timing is right you can get there when the line isn't very long (you might still have to wait 10-20 minutes though). Even if the line goes to the end of the block those noodles are worth it. There are quite a few other restaurants in close/easy walking distance as well. Some of the regular chain stuff you'll see other places: Denny's, Chili's, Starbucks (not a restaurant, but there are 2 close by with free Wi-Fi). Some of the local stuff is great and shouldn't be passed up. The udon place I mentioned above is just around the corner. A few blocks down Kuhio is Ruffage Natural Foods and Ahi Rice and Bowl - an excellent rice bowl and the shakes are super good - big refresher after hiking Diamond Head Crater. Pluses for the hotel: Good water pressure, clean, super friendly staff, and they cleaned the dishes for us (really wasn't expecting that). Meh: A/C was super loud. We only needed it on when we were in or overnight.

Romantic getaway
Upon arriving, we were told that there was a $25 fee for parking. (Not disclosed to us by either party) Our dismay continued as we opened the door to our room which smelled musty. Our balcony view was that of the building next door. We were rather disappointed to say the least. On the upside however, the location was central to everything including the International Market and the beach. Lastly, the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Please do not rent a car! You must pay for parking everywhere you go and it is at a premium. You can walk everywhere or take public transportation.
