Hectic everywhere

Our stay on 4/1213 was just fine...room lovely, bright and airy and convenient to the restaurants in the hotel. But on our next stay 4/20/13 we were given another lovely room but it was overlooking two BIG roof fans and they were very noisy so we ask for another room and we were moved to the other tower. This is when the confusion began no one accompained us and we got lost to say this was a hetic experience is an understatement. When we finally called the front desk and found our room with the bellman waiting for us he was not helpf ful. I ask him if he could get us a bucket of ice his reply was "I will show you"! This has never been my experience in a 4 star Marriott. The front desh emplyees get a 5 star rating and the restaurant on street level was just what we would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Great vacation hotel

This hotel is well located for the view and convenience to facilities. The staff are very helpful for any questions you have for any activities that are available. The only thing I did not like is that you have to pay an extra $25 a day for the use of their amenities which should have come with the package. All in all it was a good experience.

To view the whole island, it is convenient to rent a car for your stay. It makes it easy to be able to explore the entire island.

Great hotel!!!

I took my daughter here for her spring break. From the time we checked in until the time we left, we found the hotel to be clean, perfectly located and filled with fantastic employees. EVERYONE was friendly and accommodating. Everyone offered help and direction to us at every turn! We had a problem early one morning when our room alarm went off. One phone call and a maintenance man was not only there to fix it, they profusely apologized and then came back with a comp for a free breakfast buffet for the trouble, Now thats service!!! I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to return. The beach was super easily accessible. Really nice place to stay!!!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

When you go out for a "walk", go though the ABC store in the back of the hotel and make a right. Walk along the beach side of the street. You will find everything you can imagine on that street!!

Great Stay and Location - hate the surcharge

This hotel, overall, is worth the price. The gym, pool, view, and location are great but the mandatory $25 per night surcharge for such "amenities" as access to fax, long distance/local calls, etc. is ridiculous and on top of all other additional taxes. The decor is also in need of an update but is just still on the positive side of being attractive. Had the surcharge included meals instead of pre-made (and not very tasty) cocktails, it would have been easily a 4-star stay overall.

Misrepresentation

The hotel was nice, however since we were just there for a short stop over we booked the city veiw instead of the ocean veiw to save some money. Unfortunately when we got to the room and opened the curtains we were looking at the front end of a car and the parking garage. We complained that this was not a city veiw and would not have booked knowing we would not be able to feel comfortable opening our curtains because anyone in the parking garage could look right back. We were booked for 3 nights and they assured as they would be able to get us better room the following day. The front desk said they would inform the staff for the next day so there would be no problem. The next we found the girl from the night before checked us out of our room and didn't have us registared for any other room and hadn't arranged for a better room. We had prepaid so my husband ask to speak to a manager, after a few people they said they had another room and would transfer us. So we moved to the other room. It was OK but in the tower that hadn't been updated. We walked in and opened the curtains. This room had a patio, however the chairs were facing a concrete wall about chest high and the city veiw was of the sky and the bottom of the lanai above us. We imediately called the front desk and insisted on speaking with the manager. My husband was polite but firm and told her this was not acceptable. She said she didn't like his tone and did he know he was speaking to the hotel manager. He said he didn't like her tone and "Who are you, god? I am the hotel customer and this is not acceptable." Finally she said she would show us another room to see if is was acceptable. It was a much better veiw, although it had 2 doubles not the King I booked so we couldn't sleep in the same bed. All of this wasted precious vacation time and left a bad taste in our mouths.

Our stay

A fine hotel but I did not appreciate the $25 per diem resort fees. The $32 daily parking rate is a nuisance as well but standard. The "resort" fee is rather hidden. Supposedly, it covers comps such as Internet, local phone calls, etc. But, they act as though these are being given freely when in fact you're being charged. Give us a chance to opt out up front on the fees and the comps. Do a better job on disclosure before check-in. Otherwise, great view, friendly staff, and lovely pool.
