Hawaii Vacation
When we got to the hotel, we found out that not every room comes with a microwave, although when booking, it specified. There was 1 desk clerk that was extremely rude and couldn't care less whether you stayed there or not.

Much better than expected
We hadn't stayed at the Pagoda for more than 30 years, so weren't sure what to expect. The hotel hasn't aged gracefully, but there seem to be renovations in progress. Our room was immaculate, the beds were comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. For the price, it was quite adequate. The staff members were all pleasant. So all in all, we had a pleasant stay.

Like Like Drive-in is located steps away from the Pagoda and is open 24 hours. Their food is excellent and very reasonably-priced. It's been a Honolulu landmark for more than 50 years. Great breakfast spot

Nothing Extraordinary
I have used the Pagoda Hotel about 10 times over the last 26 years that I have been away from Honolulu. I always choose them based on two criterion: Value and Location (away from Waikiki). There are an old hotel that shows deterioration, but the staff is nice. Their restaurant used to be top-notch with a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet every nite. Even has a Sunday brunch buffet. But not all days anymore.

Ala Moana Shopping Center about 500 yards away. And you don't have to fight the Waikiki traffic and parking problem.

parking garage elevator not working
Parking in the garage across the street is reasonable, only $10/night, but the elevators were not working. And hotel parking starts on the 4th floor. For 2 days we had to walk up & down 4 to 5 flights of stairs. Good exercise, but not good for older people w/ leg pains.

I don't know what name
Is this the place you want to stay for vacation
When I checked in on Tues jan 22nd, the keys was not working needed security to open the door. I was in Honolulu making arrangements for my brother's funeral going in and out and waiting for security was a problem 2nd day toilet was flushing slow, called front desk no plunger was available had to wait the next morning, next morning they plunged it but then after they left everything backed up into the tub. Removed the toilet used a snake to clear the pipes. When returned that evening the bathroom floor was full of water. They gave me another room. The tv remote control was not working and the tv I could not change the channels manually. Another remote was brought to the room the next day with that I could watch tv. I was charged 10 dollars a day. 9 dollars for 24 hrs for wifi usage which I didn't use . The staff was great. I don't know if I would go back to that hotel my next visit....

Good Location
Our stay at the Pagoda was what we expected. We simply needed a room to sleep in and that's what we did there. The beds were decent, the atmosphere OK. And overall it was what the price paid for. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a cheap hotel in the heart of Honolulu. What we really liked about it was that it was NOT in the super touristy area of Honolulu, which suited us fine.

good safe space
I was initially disappointed because I did not realize how much I had wanted to have the breeze of Hawaii with me through the night. It is an air tight room with an air conditioner in the window. So it had that air conditioning noise all night and that was OK. the room was clean, the beds comfortable and the staff were very nice. Parking is in a parking garage across the street. this hotel is in the middle of the shopping area, only 2 blocks from the Ala Moana shopping center.

A bit shabby but not horrible
There are two parts to the hotel. We stayed in the older section which was across the street from the section with the lobby. The room was suite-like and there were beds for four, and was set up for cooking like an apartment. But it was a bit shabby and not too clean around the edges. Also the electronic keys initially didn't work, the elevator was working erratically, and it was a pain to get back to the lobby to get new keys. The location is close to Ala Moana shopping center, thus the hotel is a favorite for local neighbor island guests. It's not close to the beach, though. We have stayed in the main section of the hotel previously, and liked having the larger room this time, even if this section of the hotel has not been refurbished. We would stay there again because it was relatively inexpensive and a good value for us local folks who are not looking for a resort experience.
