Disappointed

Being a timeshare owner at the Imperial I found this latest trip to the Imperial very disappointing. Gone was the very bustling activities center to help plan. The room's a/c must be tuned down or off during the day - never did work to cool room. Housekeeping services very poor as well-had to call each time for garbage disposal. Worst thing was having to rely on someone else parking your rental car-noticed a dent in rear bumper 4 hrs after picking it up but had no recourse as to who was responsible but in my heart feel it was the attendant parking car. Unfortunately , no proof so I am responsible. Just go over your car carefully each time it is dropped off and retrieved as SOME ELSE is driving and parking rental car in very cramped qrts! Only god thing about Imperial is location.

CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION!!

One minute walk to the beach, near lots of restaurants and great shops. The studio rooms at Imperial are small, but have a small refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave. I recommend the one bedroom (Banyan) unit for couples and small families for a little room to spread out. The higher floors have at least a partial ocean view. The rooms were clean and it looks like every room has a balcony (lanai). We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. This is not the old Lewers Street area of the 70s and 80s. A lovely block-long boutique-style mall has recently been built, with a contemporary fountain and a large grassy area where there are free cultural shows with music and hula. Parking is very expensive everywhere in Waikiki, comparable to any major urban area, but you really don't need a car because there is so much within a short walking distance. If you want to drive, rent a car by the day for the days you need.

Spring break

Room was out of the 1950s, Bed was uncomfortible floors were dirty, AC does not work very well and makes room smell like mold. Room would be ok for kids on spring break but that is about it.

not happy

the room was very big, it would have been nice if not for the ants in the kitchenette, or the mold and water damage in the bedrooms bathroom. When we reported the problems the hotel staff did nothing to compensate us or move us to another room. very very poor customer service. the worst part was the manager was standing right there when i reported the problems and he also did nothing.

Clean, convenient room, friendly staff

The location is superb, right across the street from the $800-a-night Halekulani hotel. We booked the Imperial for that reason, as we attended a wedding held at the Halekulani. We were able to stay close during the week of wedding festivities, while paying about 1/3 of what others who stayed at the Halekulani and Outrigger on the Beach paid. The Imperial is perfectly adequate if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in your room. If you think of it as a three-star hotel, you will be pleasantly surprised. If you think of it as a four-star, you may find some aspects disappointing. The weak points: our room was designed as a semi-condo style with kitchenette, sofa, coffee table and dining table. All that furniture, though, left room for about one open suitcase. The bed was a murphy, along with the sofa bed, which would be an efficient way to go if you wanted to pack four people into the room, but you'd really be tight. Might be good for very young travelers and was quite adequate for us: a couple with a 2 year old. The pool was tiny, though the view is nice. We didn't use the gym, but had to pay a $6 a day "resort fee" regardless. Bell staff were cheerful and helpful. I had trouble logging onto the Internet and they sent someone up to help me within 5 minutes. I'd stay there again, if being in the center of Waikiki at 1/3 the price was my goal.

Great location. Great price.

I have been to Waikiki on several occasions n stayed at a number of hotels/resorts. This was one of the best all around deals I've ever acquired for the price. The location was excellent just a block from prime beachfront. They had a great rooftop pool for sunbathing as well as two relaxing whirlpool jacuzzis. The fitness center was also definitely a plus and well kept like the rest of the amenities. Just outside of the front entrance across the street stands a brand new mini mall with great shops and restaurants as well as a convenient store (ABC of course) in the building. The rooms were clean and comfortable accompanied by a flat screen TV and DVD player.

My review of Imperial Of Waikiki

The Imperial is an old condotel/timeshare in the heart of the newly renovated Waikiki Beachwalk. It is surrounded by high-end everything, from restaurants like Ruth's Chris, Roy's, and PF Changs (opening soon), to boutiques, and other high-end hotels. It is very close to the beach, and offers inexpensive rental of chairs and umbrellas. The rooms are adequate, and can sleep as many as 6 in a one bedroom which has a Murphy bed and a sleep sofa in the living room. It is undergoing some minor renovations at this time. I highly recommend this hotel because it is a great value for the money!

There is an ABC store directly below which has everything, including food items for inexpensive breadfast and lunch in your condo, and a Denny's next to the lobby for less expensive meals.
