Decent getaway for the price and location

The carpet in room was dirty and looked to be molded due to prior wetting. Definitely needs replacement. The location allow us to do a little walking along Waikiki's two main streets to get to the beach and from nearby shops. This place is worth it if you're on a budget, but I would strongly suggest other hotels if you have a little extra cash.

There is a reason for only 2 stars

Front desk unfriendly and unaccommodating. Didn't have change. Wouldn't consider an hour extension on checkout without charging a fee. Didn't have pool towels...gave me a regular room towel. Will stay here again if no other hotels available at reasonable price.

Hawaii visit

I guess it was a good price for Ohau, but there were no extras without an additional charge (internet, pool towels, parking, morning tea or coffee). Clean drinking glasses were not provided; the maid just rinsed them out. If we visit Ohau again, I would not stay there.

we had to change rooms twice but the worst is the 16.00/day parking at the hotel, and there is little to no street parking available

Hawaiian Monarch

Old style hotel. Stayed up on the 22 floor. I know 22 floor; however, elevators are fast and there's 3 of them. A bar on the ground floor and chinese grub on lobby level. PARKING PARKING TAKE HEED:: I thought parking was included in the hotel fee cause there's a garage attached to the hotel...NOT, the parking facility is separate. Tell the parking reps that you're staying at the hotel to get a steep discount. $16 daily.

If you need a cheap place to sleep, this is fine

Don't expect luxurious, but if you want a cheap place to sleep then this is a good choice. They don't clean everything every day which was fine, but I was hardly there anyway. Affordable and close to Waikiki.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

If you want to spend some time in Waikiki, park at the Honolulu zoo. It is only $1/hr.

Good enough

For the price we paid the hotel was good enough. Beds were a little uncomfortable, tv had a visible crack an shower was kind of small. Hotel guest pay $16 a day for parking from private company next door!

Disappointed and Disgusted

We first noticed that there was not a bellman to assit in transfering your laugage from the car to your room. The front desk was efficient with our room reservations but rather unpersonable. The room next to us was having a party but the smoke was aromatic and intoxicating, not to mention illegal. My daughter was sicken by the smell and was attacked by bedbugs, which I captured to show to the staff, who was not very concerned. I'll never use this establisnment again and please remove them from your data base to avoid further damage to your own business reputation. I'll be writing the hotel manager to report this event and expess my disappointment.

Good night away for a couple

I needed a relatively cheap hotel for a night away with my girlfriend and this hotel was exactly what we needed. We were not looking for something on the high end, and this hotel was just what we needed as far as comfort and space for one night. It was also pretty close to the Republik, where we enjoyed a concert. The staff was very helpful and polite. If we need another night away any time soon, we'll probably come back.
