Amazing Views, great location and friendly staff!!

After booking our stay for Feb. 2012, I was nervous after reading some of the reviews online. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly helpful front desk staff and the check in process was smooth and quick. We were impressed that we were able to park our rental car in the private underground parking ramp for very little cost. As we were walking to our room we couldn't believe the stunning views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. I thought it couldn't get better until we opened the door to our room and saw a full glass sliding wall with amazing views of the ocean. Our room was clean and had everything thing we could ask for to make our stay unforgetable. We were able to enjoy coffee in the morning on the balcony and drinks in the evening watching the sunset over the ocean. It couldn't have been better!! The only thing I can think of when wondering how someone could give this property a bad review is if someone is looking for a five star grand type of hotel with high end decor and finishes this hotel doesn't have that. My husband's brother was staying a few hotels down from us at a five star hotel and was envious of our location, hotel and views. If you're looking for a great location, views, service and a clean hotel with everything you need in a room this is the best place to stay on Waikiki. I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat and would recommend it to everyone. I hope you choose to stay here....We LOVED it!!! Ben & Jen

First time in waikiki

was not impressed at first. The lady at the counter was very rude and charged us an extra &500 dollars because I forgot to put my daughter on the reservations. We had to upgrade rooms just because of taking my daughter and the lady didn't try to help us out in any way. I was so upset cause that was my vacation money.. Also we were right next to Outrigger reef hotel and our room was apparently next to their laundromat and the workers talked and were loud all night.. making it hard to sleep..but besides that, everything else was great... nice location on beach and close to all shops..

My review

The view was great as was the location, right on the beach. We are only reviewing a studio since that is what we stayed in. Their idea of a queen bed is 2 twin beds put together and that was uncomfortable. Also air conditioner leaked the whole time and had to put a pan under it to collect the water. We did get a good deal on the room so the price was good. I liked that we had a washer/dryer in the room and that there was a mini kitchen in it.

Location, Location, Location!

Walked along the beach in the early morning. I also liked it that it was not next to another hotel on the one side. The Army Museum is on that side. Convenient stores etc. in the back of hotel up to the beach. Next to Outrigger Surf for good dining and breakfast. As they say, this hotel has no amenities.

Oceanarium Restaurant buffet at the Pacific Beach Hotel was overpriced and we weren't impressed by the fish tank. - maybe if you really like crab legs.

loyal customer, disappointed this stay

We have stayed at the Castle many times (9 years) and have always looked forward to next years trip; however, this year we were disappointed. The room smelled like animals, saw fleas, and the kitchen didn't have a dishwasher like other rooms we have enjoyed there. Additionally, the oven was non-functioning. However, we still enjoyed the apartment style with outstanding ocean views.

2nd floor is awful!

Don't let them put you on the second floor. Rooms are totally outdated and disgustingly unclean. Also had bites on my legs last two days of weeklong trip so I think room had BEDBUGS! Great location but that's about all this place has going for it...

Great Condo on Beach

The location was great! ON THE BEACH! It's not in the middle of waikiki so it wasn't crowded or noisy, but if you wanted to be in the middle of waikiki just walk a block or so and your there. Ofcourse there are a couple abc stores around the corner, a starbucks, take-out places, restaurants, watersports rental, and more. We stayed in a one bedroom, which has a kitchen with all utensils, coffee maker, fridge, pots&pans, plates&cups etc, a bathroom, washer/dryer, a living area and bedroom (which are connected so it's just one big room with sliding walls to separate the two rooms), a big lanai(balcony). You can also barrow beach towels from the front desk. The view from the room is beautiful (we had the ocean view room, which means half ocean and half park) and make sure your in the higher levels (above level 5). The pull-out sofa bed wasn't the most comfy but the bed was ok. There are two ceiling fans and one window a/c(makes a little bit of noise). There's free wifi in the room, but sometimes spotty. Our room was nice and clean, a bit outdated but it didn't really matter. The staff were very nice and helpful. Overall nice and convenient place!

Condo vs. Hotel.

View from balcony was outstanding! You are in direct view of beach and on the door entrance side there is Diamond Head. You have your own kitchen, washer and dryer, safe. Within walking distance of stores and restaurants. People at desk are very helpful. On streets look for people with bright light green shirts for information and directions. You will have a key to your door, safe, and one for operation of elevators and outside doors. Don't forget to return door keys to counter and leave safe key in lock on safe when leaving, for there is a hefty fee for missing keys. As far as Condo vs. Hotel, Condo wins hands down. This vacation is in our top 5.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Our favorite place to eat was a roadside fresh shrimp stand called Fumi's on the north shore road 83, better than anything in town. We stopped there while we were on a Explore Hawaii tour bus through Hawaii Tours & Travel, which I recommend. Ask for Cousin David to be your guide, he is very informative and funny.
