Aqua Waikiki Pearl
The location of the hotel was good but that is the only truly posative thing I have to say about the hotel. the rooms were small and had no view. the family got bug bites from the room. housekeeping didnt even follow their own recommendations on the towel useage. the parking situation was unacceptable. we paid for parking on site and were turfed to a location 2 blocks from the hotel most nights

very good value
this hotel is very good value. The rooms look like they have been renovated recently and are pretty spacious. The staff is very helpful. Parking is a little pricey for the lack of parking they have and is a bit silly. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and it is a very clean, good hotel.

conference attendance on a budget
We booked a 7-night stay for a conference at the Hawaii Convention Center. The hotel was in easy walking distance of the beautiful Waikiki beach and we could even see a tiny glimpse of the ocean from our lanai (we stayed on the 8th floor). It was also a pleasant but slightly longer walk (about 20-25 minutes) to the Hawaii Convention Center. Also very close by (a few blocks at most) were the bus stop (useful for taking the #2 to the Convention Center if you didn't want to walk, and the #42 to Pearl Harbor), grocery store, pharmacy, camera shop (had a flash drive I urgently needed for the conference), and many other stores and restaurants, including the International Market (walk through on your way to and from the beach if you need souvenirs). The area is very touristy, but once you get over that, you will find it has everything you need. The hotel room suite itself consisted of one bedroom (containing a side table, desk, and mirrored closet) connecting to the bathroom, and one large open area containing the kitchen (microwave, stove top, sink, almost full-size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, and even a toaster), sofa bed plus dresser, table and chairs, another entrance to the bathroom, and another bed which could be divided from the rest of the room via a curtain. The style was basic as far as the decor was concerned, but welcome additions included a large lanai (with a table, two chairs, and a useful drying rack for wet beach clothes), and a bathroom counter with plenty of space for everyone's stuff. Three of us shared the suite (one in the bedroom, one in the bed behind the curtain divider, and one on the sofa bed), and the suite was so large that we did not find ourselves in each other's way at all (even after 7 days together). The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and a concierge is available during certain hours for help planning tours, etc. Other guests at the hotel seemed to be enjoying their vacation and ranged from families with young kids to older couples, with a few party-minded young folks thrown in for good measure. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for budget-minded travelers looking for a place to stay near the beach (but not beach front) or people attending events at the Hawaiian Convention Center who don't mind a nice walk (or short bus ride).

Apparently, the cost of a ticket for jaywalking is about $90 and the police do give these out regularly. The area is very pedestrian-friendly, and we walked around a lot. Although it was hard to put my urban jaywalking habit aside, I complied with the ample pedestrian crossings and "walk" signs and did not have any problems. Also, tempting as it is to take the public bus to Pearl Harbor, it is a long ride with many stops along the way. Take the #42 if you can (the #20 goes through the airport and is slower). One more: the public buses don't allow luggage that can't fit under the seat. Call for an airport shuttle instead (if traveling with a group, the cost may be even less than is posted on some of the shuttle websites - call and ask them).

Great rooms at a great price
Very nicely renovated rooms and it was large and we could see the ocean from our balcony. The staff was very nice and helpful.Very close to many ammenities. The only down fall that I found was that in the early hours the vehicle noise on the road esp.the (harleys) could be heard like our windows were open which they weren't .No pool but not hard to find someplace to swim in Hawaii.

Comfortable with the lights on
The staff was excellent and very friendly. Had fun conversations with everyone. The Hotel is old but not aged, it is comfortable but not fancy. It was safe and close to everything we needed. We were out of the room all day and it was comfortable to fall a sleep in. Our room's Air conditioner was great and the room got to cold on a 70 degree setting. A ten minute stroll to the beach. Shopping and dining close. Great value for the family traveler on a budget.

Blazin Steaks is a hole in the wall two man operation recommended by hotel staff. Very few tables but good food in a styrofoam box for those who want cheap food. No ambiance but we ate good food cheap for Waikiki. Not for gourmets!

Nice place for the price
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accomodating. Location is only 2 blocks from the beach so that is good. Huge room! However, a tad loud as we were on the side facing another building.

Be aware of limited parking
1. Parking is additional $23 if you can space. 2. TV in the room was smaller than my home computer screen. 3. Parking was non-existent and directions to another lot was hard to follow 4. Desk clerk was awesome with customer service 5. Room was clean 6. One elevator was out for renovation which left only one elevator in service.

ran down
Aqua Hotel should be rated only "one star" or less. Thef first room they gave us their bed sheets had stains all over it, I found bed a bug on the bug and few flies all over the lamp. AND their carpet was dirty too. My daughter was afraid to sleep in that room. I was tempted to check in to another hotel but since we already paid for it. There was no way they would give us a refund. We went back to the lobby to complain. Good that the front desk gave us another room.
