Excellent location; wonderful staff
We were warmly greeted on our arrival and were assigned to a our Diamond Head view room. It was perfect... overlooking the pool, with both Diamond Head and Ocean views. I stay here several times a year, and each time there is another improvement or new amenity.

Great value and location
This is a nice hotel in a great location just by the zoo. Since it is at the end of the Waikiki strip it is a little quieter than staying at some of the other hotels. It is really close to the beach and restaurants and they have a small but nice pool with diamond head views. Make sure to ask for a room on the highest floor possible and if you pay a little extra can get a ocean view.

Nice location for easy access to Beach & amenities
This is the second time staying at The Queen & we enjoy the location quite a bit. The hotel is older & the value is excellent. The rooms are older, including the bathroom, windows, a/c, etc. The a/c was noisy & the beds bumpy. The staff is very nice. There is or it seems to be an ongoing party at the pool with drunk young adults which we avoided. The lobby is beautiful & location across from the Zoo gives it a tranquil location.

Uncomfortable
While the lobby looks clean and beautiful, the room we were assigned to was not. It had a noisy and inefficient a/c unit, and had ants crawling on the nightstand between the beds. We were moved to a corner bedroom that was slightly better than the first one but where we could hear every noise from the street below. We were on the 9th floor. In addition, the hotel administrators do not see fit to spend money on properly fitting curtains so that light enters the room very early in the morning. This, the noise from the street, and a lumpy mattress with barely there pillows made for a poor experience. When we arrived we found out we had to pay $25 per night for parking, we were not told this was taxable (we found out at checkout). The only plus was the staff, who truly try to do the best they can with what they have to work with.

Family Vacation
It was just like the pictures. The view from the pool was fabulous. Our room was street view and it was beautiful from all views. Our friends stayed at either the Marriott or Hyatt and & the Aqua Queen Kapiolani was quiet and away from the traffic. The only difference was the age of the hotel. I would stay there again.

Nothing special
the rooms are definatley dated, the bathroom sink had many missing pieces to the porcelin. the doors on the closet were off the track and continued to come off throughout our week stay. the airconditioner was over our door to the balcony and dripped nonstop, every time we walked in or out it got us. there was only 1 option for food in the whole hotel, no room service and no notifications of any delivery service for food, which made us always have to leave in search of food. In my opinion, this aspect is a missed gold mine! The staff though was absolutely amazing, very friendly at every interaction.

Fair Value for Good Location and Pool
You get what you pay for. The location is very good as it's just off Waikiki Beach and across the street from the Zoo and Diamond Head. The lobby and pool are very nice, but the rooms, while clean, are a bit dated and worn out. The staff was average . . . not super friendly, but efficient and helpful enough. In summary, if you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel near the beach, this is it. Just don't expect much luxury in the rooms.

Visit Tikki's restaurant around the corner and in a hotel across from the beach. Beautiful outdoor deck with live music in the evenings. Great tropical drinks and very fresh fish options at a very fair price. Try the Ahi Poke Rice Bowl with Avocado!

Ok, but a little disappointing
The room was clean, had a balcony, a big bed, and a partial view of the ocean (we had the City View higher up) It served its purpose and we liked the location, but we just weren't impressed. There was no "wow" factor at all. The overall hotel is very dated, and looks more bland in real life than in the pictures. The staff was good. If you just care about being in Waikiki, I would say around $100-$120/night this is a decent deal. But I wouldn't recommend this to someone who likes to feel like they are in a really nice hotel. If you have a car and don't want to spend $20/night on parking, the one nice thing about this location is you can find a free parkng spot on Monsarrat Ave or a couple other small streets around there. We always found a spot in about 5 minutes that was a 5 minute walk to the hotel. But again, if you're on your honeymoon for example, splurge on parking, and better yet, stay at a different hotel. We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki the last time, it was more expensive, we ended up spending around $200/night (but its definitely a different experience: own beach, nice restaurants, much nicer quality room, great view) In summary, if you only need a room to sleep in, and enjoy the destination itself go for it. Its not a motel, its nicer. But its just an average hotel.
