The Gastonian is situated on the southern side of Savannah's downtown historic district on a residential street near Forsyth Park. It is a 4-star historic Inn with 17 private rooms. A few of the many things that you are sure to love about this inn are it's private gardens, silver tray breakfast service, turndown, tea and Hors d'oeuvres.

Save your money

Save your money, the hotel is not worth the cost. We selected this hotel for its historic ambiance; we did not expect that ambiance to include historic amounts of dirt and soil on the carpets, floors, stair and other areas would be just as historic. The hotel needs good cleaning, dirt on floor and stairs leading to the rooms gives it a serious ick factor. Rooms were no better. Worn bed linens with some stains, pillows were filthy (something we did not discover until the next morning), and throw rugs in the room together with furniture looked as old, worn as the hotel. The hotel dining experience was a serious turnoff too. Most frustrating is that the state of the hotel clearly does not match the reviews. This leads me to believe that the hotel staff posted most of the reviews, a particularly dishonest practice. Finally, we paid the extra money, more than 300/night, for what we thought would be an extraordinary experience. The only extraordinary about the experience was how bad it was. A Days Inn would be more comfortable, cleaner, but more positively extraordinary than this property.

Great way to get to know Savanna

The Gastonian put us in the heart of Savanna and the staff oriented us to the nature of the city (our first visit). The Gastonian's location was perfect allowing us to explore all facets of the historic district and always be within "just a few blocks" of the gracious care of the Gastonian staff. As well, the other guests were great complementing one another with great stories, directions, and good cheer.

Romantic weekend

We had a very nice stay at The Gastonian. We felt very welcome and comfortable. The food was very good and plentiful. The location is a bit of a walk from River Street , if you plan to spend time there, but that also makes it a much quiter location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

We definitely recommend dining at The Olde Pink House when staying in Savannah. It is a longer walk or short drive from The Gastonian. We also recommend enjoying a show at The Savannah Theatre if you have the chance.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

This was my first trip to Savannah and I could not of chosen a better place to stay. Your first impression of The Gastonian is WOW I am in Savannah, and then you meet this wonderful, friendly and helpful staff and don't know how it can get any better, but then you have their gourmet breakfast and you wonder if somehow you can live at The Gastonian and commute to work .....in another state.

we will return!!

Near Forsythe Park in the historic district. We walked to River Street and back but prefer the vibe of the neighborhood, so we will stay in this area from now on. Super nice and friendly staff. Looking forward to a return visit.

Southern Charmer

The Gastonian was a great find. We needed a room for One night and a lot of B&B's only book for 2. We wanted to get a lot in in our one day and [...] the mgr at the Gastoniain was extremely helpful in getting us a Dinner reservation, a private carriage ride, and some quick sites to see before dinner and she did it all before we even checked into our room. We love well cared for old homes / buildings and the Gastonian fits the bill. We had a nice room with a private big terrace (which we had breakfast on). The location is great, the staff accommodating, everything was clean. We would go stay here again.

Wonderful Southern Charm

We checked in to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and were excited to find out they had upgraded us, free of charge to their penthouse. We had the entire 3rd floor to ourselves... while it was a record high in Savannah, we stayed nice and cool enjoying the accomidations. Everything about the Gastonian is beautiful and classic. We enjoyed all the services offered and couldn't have had a better time. A+++++!!!
